Lucas Hernandez has suffered an ACL injury in the fallout of the Champions League semifinal tie against Borussia Dortmund. The defender is expected to be out for at least six to eight months, and will miss the European Championships with France.
The PSG defender had a difficult night in Dortmund, as he first suffered a mouth injury, after a tussle with Marcel Sabitzer. After trying to pressurise Niclas Fullkrug, who was in on goal, Hernandez was shoved off, and that seems to have caused the knee injury. He was later replaced by Lucas Beraldo, as he was unable to continue the rest of the game.
Lucas Hernandez suffers yet another ACL injury
Lucas Hernández will miss the Euros after tearing his ACL in PSG’s game against Dortmund.
He also tore his ACL 13 minutes into France’s first game of the 2022 World Cup.
The 28-year-old suffered an ACL injury just a year ago, and has been diagnosed with the serious injury once again. The World Cup winner was signed by the French club at the start of the season from Bayern Munich, and after spending the entire season injury-free, he has now been sidelined for the majority of 2024.
ACL injuries have become very frequent in football this year. Alongside Lucas Hernandez, Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba, as well as Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana and Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber have all been given the same diagnosis.
Bayer Leverkusen have one foot in the finals of the Europa League, with their 2-0 win over Roma in the first leg of the semifinals. In the other semifinal, Marseille and Atalanta played out a 1-1 draw, and have it all to play for when the tie goes back to Bergamo next week.
Here are the highlights from the Europa League semifinal first leg matches.
Europa League 23/24 semifinal first leg results
Wirtz and Andrich win it for Bayer Leverkusen
3⃣7⃣ goal contributions and counting this season for Florian Wirtz.
— Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) May 2, 2024
Wirtz opened the scoring early in the game for the Bundesliga champions before Robert Andrich made it two in the second half with the terrific strike. Roma had their chances in the second half, but were unable to make anything out of them. They finished with an xG of 1.28, but had nothing to show for the opportunities created.
For Bayer Leverkusen, it is one more game unbeaten and another step towards what could be a historic year for the club.
Gianluca Scamacca has been in top form for Atalanta this season, scoring 16 goals across all competitions. And he was on the scoresheet in the first leg of the semifinal as well, helping the Italian side take the lead. However, his goal was cancelled out by Chancel Mbemba within ten minutes, and the two sides couldn’t be separated thereafter.
With no fixtures in between, Marseille will be able to train exclusively for their return leg. On the other hand, Atalanta face Salernitana on Monday and have a big challenge to face next Thursday.
The much awaited TV show Daisy Jones & The Six, based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel of the same name, will premiere on March 3. Fans of the book are incredibly excited to see Sam Claflin, who plays Billy Dunne, the lead singer of The Six, bring their craziest desire to life.
Book lovers can place their faith in Claflin, as he is a well-known personality in the cinema industry and has a plethora of noteworthy performing jobs under his resume.
Here is the List of Sam Claflin Movies and TV Shows :
1. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
The second film in The Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire, is set a few months after the first one. Following Jennifer Lawrence’s character Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson’s character Peeta Mellark as they win the 74th Annual Hunger Games, the movie keeps on. Because of the nationwide uprising that their victory has provoked, Katniss and her loved ones are more vulnerable than ever.
Claflin portrayed Finnick Odair, the 65th Hunger Games champion from District 4 who first posed a threat to Katniss but ultimately turned into her greatest ally. In addition to building on the groundwork laid by its predecessor, the film surpasses it in nearly every area, incorporating political, social, and emotional elements that transcend the purview of a young adult novel and represent matters of considerably greater significance.
2. Me Before You (2016)
Me Before You centers on Louisa “Lou” Clark (Emilia Clarke), who works as a caretaker for Will (Claflin), a tetraplegic following an accident that left him a wealthy banker and avid sportsman. In spite of their extreme differences, the two eventually develop a unique friendship.
Even though it’s a traditional story with clichéd characters, the concepts capture the essence of humanity and appeal to empathic viewers. Because of its simplicity, viewers may connect with it on a universal level. In addition, Clarke and Claflin have incredible chemistry together, which infuses the film with warmth and real passion.

3 Rosie, Love (2014)
Love, Rosie is the story of two best friends who have been together since they were five years old: Alex Stewart (Claflin) and Rosie Dunne (one of Lily Collins’ best roles), who discover that as they get older, they tend to drift apart more and more. Over the years and miles, they risk everything to keep their friendship going, only to realize too late that they are in love.
Love, Rosie defies expectations, and the stories move at such a fast clip that they’re entertaining to watch. Furthermore, the film does very well on its own, largely because of the terrific chemistry between the protagonists, who bring their flawed, nuanced characters to life in a humorous, endearing, and likeable manner.
4. The Nightingale (2018)
The Nightingale, which is set in the penal colony of Van Diemen’s Land in 1825, tells the tale of an AIsling Franciosi, a female prisoner, who is seeking revenge for a horrible act committed against her during the Black War. In the British Army Regiment, she is commanded by Lieutenant Hawkins, portrayed by Claflin.
The Nightingale is a powerful study of survival that, rather than concentrating on the tragedy itself, holds a darkly melancholic mirror that reflects the horrors of racism, colonialism, and misogyny. The film also eliminates all fiction and fabrication in an attempt to accurately depict a notoriously brutal period in Australia’s colonial past.
5. Enola Holmes (2020)
Enola Holmes, which is based on Nancy Springer’s first book in The Enola Holmes Mysteries series, follows Millie Bobby Brown’s titular character as she travels to London to look for her mother but instead goes on an exciting adventure with a fleeing lord (Louis Partridge) in an attempt to solve a mystery that threatens the entire country. Mycroft Holmes, Enola’s older brother, was portrayed by Claflin.
The wildly successful Netflix movie is a captivating, vibrant, and character-driven narrative that explores themes of womanhood, self-awareness, and acclimating to the outside world. Enola Holmes also vividly lives up to the book series it is based after, owing to an amazing cast and an engaging plot with plenty of twists and turns that will leave viewers wanting more.
6. Peaky Blinders (2013–2022)
In Peaky Blinders, which is set in Birmingham, England, the main characters are the vicious gang boss Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and his gang members, who sew razor blades into the ends of their caps. In season five of the show, Claflin played political fascist Sir Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists.
Peaky Blinders is a superb example of a historical drama because it is thought-provoking, difficult to watch, and it forces viewers to grapple with morality and the blurriness of right and evil. The show is a fun historical mood TV diversion with a cast of likable, well-written characters that fans will find hard to resist.
7. Adrift (2018)
Based on a true story set during Hurricane Raymond in 1983 and written by Tami Oldham Ashcraft in 2002, Adrift tells the story of two free spirits (played by Shailene Woodley and Claflin) who meet by accident and are eventually carried on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Adrift is a superbly crafted film with realistic special effects and superb performances that conveys a heartwarming true story of teenage love and steely will. The screen was illuminated by the combined performances of Woodley and Claflin, two exceptional actors.
8. My Cousin Rachel
My Cousin Rachel narrates the story of Philip (Claflin), an orphan raised as a son on his expansive estate in Cornwall by his older cousin Ambrose in the 1830s. After Ambrose dies, Phillip intends to get revenge on Rachel Weisz, his late cousin’s fascinating and beautiful wife, because he believes she is responsible for his death. However, as he begins to succumb to her alluring charms, his feelings become hazy.
Director Roger Michell has created a film that is masterfully shot, wonderfully performed, and expertly constructed. It is also an in-depth analysis of the consequences of a complex and dynamic female sexuality in the years that the general public considered to be a woman’s matronly years.
9. Their Best (2016)
The story of a British Ministry of Information film crew making a film about the Dunkirk evacuation to boost morale during the Battle of Britain and the London Blitz is told in Their Finest. Tom Buckley, a screenwriter on the crew, was portrayed by Claflin.
The film about creating a movie skillfully moves over the broad horror of war to find poignant, funny, and romantic moments while maintaining a range of emotional tones. Claflin is the perfect scene partner, and Gemma Arterton gives a nuanced and compelling performance with excellent comic timing.
10. Journey’s End (2017)
Journey’s End shows the tension and claustrophobia as Lieutenant Raleigh (Asa Butterfield), a new recruit to the company, discovers that Captain Stanhope (Claflin), his former childhood friend and hero, has changed almost beyond recognition. The story takes place over the course of four days in 1917, just before a significant German attack on the British trenches. Reducing everything to the essentials, the movie delves inside the souls of those forced to fight on the front lines.
The ensemble of Journey’s End gives strong performances that effectively capture the sheer tragedy of the First World War. Claflin, in particular, makes sure that the emotional impact is felt even a century later.
Ronan Bennett’s British crime drama series Top Boy has become incredibly successful since its premiere. The show tackles actual societal issues and topics even though it isn’t based on a genuine story. This article examines the characters, storyline, and reality-based elements of the program.
Top Boy: Plot
The story of Top Boy takes place in the made-up Summerhouse estate in Hackney, London. As they negotiate the intricate mechanics of the drug trade and gang violence in the city, Dushane (Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kane Robinson) are two drug traffickers whose lives are explored in the series.
There are several seasons in the show, and each one focuses on a distinct plot. First and second series debuted on Channel 4 in sets of four episodes each. The first series debuted across four evenings in late 2011 and the second series in 2013. The show was originally going to get a third season, but when Canadian rapper Drake showed interest, it was given fresh life.
Top Boy Cast
Ashley Walters as Dushane
Ashley Walters, who co-leads the program, portrays Dushane Hill in Top Boy. The game’s greatest player, Dushane, earns the title of “Top Boy” by working his way up the gang hierarchy. Rapper Walters, who occasionally goes by the stage name Asher D, is a well-known actor in British television and motion pictures. In Bulletproof, he portrays NCA Officer Ronnie Pike, the opposite of Dushane, in his other most well-known television role. Danny Dorsey in Billionaire Ransom and Antoine in 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ are two examples of film roles.
Kane Robinson as Gerard
Kane Robinson plays Gerard “Sully” Sullivan. Dushane has known Gerard “Sully” Sullivan since they were little children, and the two of them worked their way up the drug trade together. Sully is not as good at controlling his rage as Dushane is, and he regularly snaps at people. British musician and actor Kane Robinson, better known for his rap moniker Kano, plays Sully. Kano has only starred in four films, most notably The Kitchen as Izi, and his only TV appearance to far is Top Boy. Since 2005, Kano has put out six albums; Hoodies All Summer, his most recent album, was released in 2019.
Shone Romulus as Dris Wright
One of the few characters to feature in both the first two seasons and the Netflix relaunch of Top Boy is played by Shone Romulus as Dris Wright in seasons one through three. Until he makes the decision to turn on his old pals to the authorities, Dris is Dushane’s second best buddy. Only a few other productions have Romulus been in, making this his largest role to date.
Most famously, Romulus played Jerome in the movie No Shade and D’Angel in The Intent and its sequel, The Intent 2: The Come Up, in between the original run of Top Boy and the revival.
Jasmine Jobson as Jacqueline
Jaq can be seen in seasons three through five of Top Boy. She was second-in-command to Dris at first and had a grudge against Dushane, but she proved to be a devoted supporter of Sully and Dushane once Dris betrayed them. Jasmine Jobson, who has had appearances in a number of British TV series, plays Jaq in Top Boy. Her sole noteworthy film role is as Lily in Surge. Jobson has acted in TV shows such as Noughts + Crosses as Cara, Platform 7 as Lisa, and a single episode of Dark Heart as Sally Watkins.
Simbi Ajikawo as Shelley
Shelley, Dushane’s love interest, is portrayed by Simbi Ajikawo and debuted in Top Boy season 3. Shelley wants to be able to support her daughter in a proper manner. Ajikawo is a British rapper who goes as Little Simz on stage and has five albums out since 2015. He also stars in the show from seasons three through five. She has made occasional appearances in TV shows and motion pictures. She is best known for her self-portrait in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and her portrayal of Adunola, a recurring character on The Power.
Araloyin Oshunremi as Stefan Tovell
In the third through fifth seasons of Top Boy, Araloyin Oshunremi plays Stefan Tovell, the younger sibling of the Tovell family. One of the most naive characters in the show, Stefan yearns for a typical family but is entangled in his elder brothers’ illegal activities. Oshunremi only started acting in 2022, mostly in short film credits. However, in addition to his work in Top Boy, he also had a noteworthy television role in Heartstopper as Otis Smith.
Saffron Hocking as Lauryn Lawrence
Season 3 of Top Boy has Lauryn Lawrence as a recurring character; in seasons 4 and 5, she assumes a major role. Jaq’s sister Lauryn formerly harbored romantic sentiments for Dris in Top Boy. She is portrayed by British performer Saffron Hocking, whose only feature film appearance was as Sian in Strangeways Here We Come. Hocking has, nevertheless, made a number of noteworthy TV appearances, such as as Dylan in the MCU series Moon Knight, Sasha Bailey in Riches, Eleanor Kemp in London Kills, and Emma Lyndsey in White Gold.
Top Boy Supporting Cast
Michael Ward plays Jamie Tovell, the older brother of the Tovell family. In seasons three and four, Jamie struggles to maintain his position as Dushane’s good lieutenant while also trying to protect his impressionable siblings. Michael Ward, who played Brendan in the television series The A List, plays Jamie. His film credits include Judas Iscariot in The Book of Clarence, Empire of Light as Stephen, and The Old Guard as Lykon.
Giacomo Mancini as Gemel “Gem” Mustapha: In the first two seasons of Top Boy, Giacomo Mancini portrays Gemel “Gem” Mustapha, who is a recurrent character in the third season. He is most known for his parts in the films Shaun in Anti-Social and Michelangelo in Pan.
Joshua Blisset portrays Kieron Palmer: Joshua Blisset plays Kieron Palmer, a pivotal role in Top Boy seasons three through five. Kieron is a devoted and hardy soldier who works as a high-ranking drug dealer for Scully and Dushane’s group. Since beginning in 2018, Blissett has hardly appeared in any performing roles. In addition to playing Steven in Pretty Red Dress, he plays Daps in Blue Story, Jacob Adjekum in Drawn Out, and Karl in Obey. Other than Top Boy, he only appears on television once, in a Young Wallander episode.
In the first and second seasons of Top Boy, Malcolm Kamulete portrays Ra’Nell Smith. During the first season of the show, Ra’Nell was a prominent character and Gem’s close buddy. Among Kamulete’s most prominent roles is Top Boy. In the 2023 series Champion, he plays the title character of Bosco Champion.
As Lisa Smith, Sharon Duncan-Brewster – In Top Boy, Lisa Smith is Ra’Nell’s mother. Sharon Duncan-Brewster plays Lisa Smith in the first two seasons of the show, after which her character vanishes. In Top Boy, Mandy is the mother of Erin, Dris’s daughter. Similar to several members of the Top Boy cast, NoLay is a rapper, but her true name is Natalie Bianaca Athanasiou. Adwoa Aboah as Becks: In seasons 4 and 5 of Top Boy, Adwoa Aboah plays Becks, a character who starts dating Jaqs. Model and actress Aboah plays Lia in the film Ghost in the Shell and plays Scorpia in two episodes of Willow.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders secured a win in their previous match and currently hold a comfortable second position in the standings. The team, which has won the championship twice before, will look to maintain their winning momentum and secure their spot in the playoffs.
Interestingly, two English players with matching initials – JB and JB – could have influenced the course of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ season. The exceptional centuries by Jos Buttler (107 not out) of the Rajasthan Royals and Jonny Bairstow (108 not out) of the Punjab Kings proved pivotal. These performances prevented the Knight Riders from sealing their playoff berth earlier. Despite their efforts, the Knight Riders faced a daunting task, failing to defend 222 against the Royals and conceding a record-breaking chase of 262 for 2 against the Punjab Kings. This has left them battling for a place in the final four.
Requiring two wins from their remaining five matches, the Knight Riders find themselves teetering on the edge of securing a playoff spot, yet with significant groundwork still ahead. Furthermore, facing the Mumbai Indians twice, particularly at the Wankhede Stadium where they have historically struggled, presents a formidable challenge. Despite maintaining a consistent hold on the second position throughout the IPL season, obtaining two victories in their final five games presents both an opportunity and a hurdle. Their destiny hangs in the balance.
Expressing the uncertainty surrounding the team’s playoff prospects, KKR’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar remarked, “I wish I could confidently say that 16 points or 14 points would suffice, but it’s impossible to predict. This tournament is among the most competitive globally, spanning two months. It’s not just about the performance in the first half; the second half holds equal weight. We’ve witnessed teams at the bottom of the table excel against the table-toppers. So, it’s challenging to determine a safe threshold for qualification. I believe the more points, the better, for any team.”
While the Knight Riders’ batting has flourished this season, with Phil Salt and Sunil Narine setting the stage for imposing totals, their bowling hasn’t quite matched up, despite the presence of the formidable Mitchell Starc, IPL’s costliest acquisition at INR 24.75 crore.
“I believe our bowling could have been more effective. ‘Below par’ wouldn’t accurately describe it,” Nayar defended, particularly addressing the performance of the Australian pace bowler, who has struggled with an economy rate exceeding 11 and has only managed to take seven wickets across eight games. Starc could potentially present a formidable challenge for Rohit Sharma, especially considering Sharma’s susceptibility to left-arm pacers this season. The Australian would be well-suited to exploit this situation if the opportunity arises.
For the Mumbai Indians, the stakes are relatively low, as their best-case scenario would only allow them to reach a maximum of 14 points by winning their remaining four games, a prospect unlikely to secure them a playoff spot. However, it presents another opportunity for skipper Hardik Pandya to prove his full fitness by bowling his full quota of overs. With little to lose, the Mumbai Indians could prove to be formidable adversaries for the Knight Riders, who have been among the top-performing teams this IPL season.
In a departure from the norm, the clash between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) marks their first encounter this season, and it takes place at a venue where KKR has historically struggled. Over the years in the IPL, KKR has managed only one victory at the Wankhede against MI, which occurred back in 2012. Interestingly, Sunil Narine was the Player of the Match on that occasion for his 4 for 15, and all eyes will be on him again, this time for his explosive batting at the top of the order.
On Friday night, Narine could find several factors working in his favor: a batting-friendly pitch, short boundaries conducive to big hits, his current excellent form and confidence, favorable bounce facilitating powerful shots, and a Mumbai Indians bowling lineup that, apart from Jasprit Bumrah, isn’t instilling much confidence at the moment.
Moreover, Sunil Narine holds an impressive record against MI’s opener Rohit Sharma, having dismissed him nine times, the second-most in all T20s after Dwayne Bravo’s ten dismissals against Kieron Pollard.
While Rohit Sharma might draw inspiration from Narine’s aggressive batting style, he can also take confidence from his recent unbeaten century against CSK in Mumbai. However, much of the pre-game discussion will revolve around Rohit’s performance against left-arm quicks, against whom he has been dismissed five times out of nine encounters this IPL, averaging just 17 runs in 44 balls. It’s worth noting that Rohit has performed exceptionally against other bowlers like Mustafizur Rahman, Arshdeep Singh, Jaydev Unadkat, Spencer Johnson, and Reece Topley, without being dismissed by them, while scoring at a strike rate of 235.71.
The question remains: Can Mitchell Starc overcome his recent run of conceding runs and provide KKR with the early advantage against Rohit, potentially breaking the hoodoo at the Wankhede Stadium?

MI vs KKR: Pitch Report & Conditions
The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai tends to favor batsmen, suggesting a high-scoring encounter. Given this, teams winning the toss might opt to bowl first and chase down the total.
Expect a fiercely competitive match with KKR pushing for a playoff spot and MI playing without pressure. The toss will play a significant role, especially considering the potential impact of dew.

While dew hasn’t been as prominent as in Chennai, chasing remains the preferred choice in Mumbai. Since IPL 2021, 26 out of 42 matches have been won by the team batting second, and seven out of 11 since IPL 2023. Mumbai’s humid conditions, with temperatures hovering around 30 degrees even at 11 pm, make bowling second a challenging proposition.

KKR will face this match without both Ranas, as Harshit serves a one-game suspension and Nitish, who appeared only in the opening game before sustaining a hand injury, is still working on his fitness, hoping to return soon. In Harshit’s absence, Vaibhav Arora might find a place in the XI.
KKR’s strategy of incorporating Impact Players based on opposition continues, seen in selections like Suyash Sharma against RCB, Anukul Roy on slower tracks against right-hand heavy teams like PBKS, or Vaibhav Arora against Rajasthan Royals. Against Mumbai at Wankhede, they are likely to rely on Narine, Starc, and Varun Chakravarty as their primary bowlers and choose an impact option based on the prevailing conditions.
Mitchell Starc is expected to target Rohit Sharma, who has struggled against left-arm pacers this season, being dismissed five times in 10 games.

MI vs KKR: Players Under The Spotlight
MI- Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah has been a standout performer in this IPL, not only for his wicket-taking ability but also for his remarkable economy rate of 6.40 in what has been the most high-scoring IPL season to date. However, despite his consistency, he has only managed one wicket in the last three games. MI will rely heavily on him once again to provide early breakthroughs. It’s possible that opposing teams have been playing cautiously against Bumrah to target the other bowlers who have leaked runs, and how Bumrah counters this tactic will be intriguing to watch.
KKR- Venkatesh Iyer
Venkatesh Iyer hasn’t quite replicated his form from last year, where he scored 404 runs at a strike rate of 145.84, even while recovering from an ankle injury. Despite the scoring rates increasing across teams and venues this season, he hasn’t been able to make a significant impact. He appeared unsettled early on in the record game against PBKS on a flat Eden Gardens pitch. With another flat deck expected in Mumbai, Venkatesh will be eager to improve upon his current strike rate of 146.66 this season.

SRH have ended Rajasthan Royals’ streak of winning all four away matches this IPL season, defeating them by one run in an incredible game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Glenn Powell with two runs to win from the final delivery to seal two points for the home team, and cap off an incredible performance.
Travis Head bounced back with a half century before he was eventually bowled out by Avesh Khan. Nitish Kumar Reddy played an impressive, unbeaten 76 while Heinrich Klaasen played an unbeaten 42 to help SRH pass the 200-run mark once again this season.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar helped Hyderabad get off to a great start, dismissing Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson in the very first over. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag both scored half centuries to get Rajasthan’s run chase back on track.
However, Jaiswal had a lapse of judgement as he played himself off before Parag was caught on the boundary, going for the long shot. The 18th and 19th over proved to be the game changer for SRH, with Nataranjan and Pat Cummins taking key wickets to swing the tide in their favour.
Even though RR were able to take several doubles in the final over, Kumar had the last laugh with the LBW in the final delivery.
Virat Kohli has been named #1 in the list of the top 100 athletes in the world for 2024, becoming the only cricketer to be named in Ranker’s list. The 35-year-old has been joined by football icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on the list as well.
Ronaldo is on number two in the list, while Messi ranks third in the list. Novak Djokovic is fourth, and is followed by Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Norway, completing the top five.

The 35-year-old has been named in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup, after an incredible start to the 2024 IPL. Until recently, he held the orange cap, for having the most runs in the IPL before being surpassed by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Kohli remains a fan favourite for his incredible dedication and commitment to the sport and his athleticism in spite of his age. The RCB batter is still showing that he is at the top of his game, and is fully deserving of a place at the top of the list.
The rest of the list includes prominent athletes from other sports including Max Verstappen, Nikola Jokic, Shohei Ohtani and Steph Curry.
