The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is in full swing, with cricket fans closely following the dynamic and ever-evolving points table. The IPL points table serves as a crucial indicator of how the ten participating teams are performing in this highly competitive tournament. The points table is updated after each match to reflect the latest standings, including wins, losses, net run rate, and total points accumulated by each team.

IPL 2024 Teams and Owners
The IPL 2024 will feature ten teams. The franchises and their owners are as follows:
Entering the season with significant buzz, the team underwent a high-profile captaincy change that sparked widespread speculation due to the lack of a clear explanation. This led to an unprecedented atmosphere where home team captain Hardik Pandya was booed by their own fans. Mumbai’s on-field performances were inconsistent, with key players, including Rohit Sharma, struggling to find form after a promising start to the season. Jasprit Bumrah stood out as the lone bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign, marking what is arguably the team’s poorest cycle in IPL history.
Under Fire: Hardik Pandya’s Struggles Amid Fan Backlash and Poor Results
Hardik Pandya often cut a forlorn figure, masking the extreme pressure with a forced smile. The crowd at Wankhede Stadium was relentless in expressing their displeasure, and the team’s poor results only intensified the scrutiny on the captain from all sides.
Mumbai Indians’ Player of the Season: Jasprit Bumrah
With 20 wickets in 13 games at an economy rate of just 6.48, Bumrah was head and shoulders above not just anyone else in his team but across the competition.

Mumbai Indians’ Best Game
If there was one game that showcased the talent and impact that the Mumbai Indians could create, it would be their second win of the season, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home. Led by a five-fer from Bumrah, RCB were kept down to 196. Mumbai’s batting might then took over from there. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan added 101 runs inside 9 overs, while Suryakumar Yadav hit a 19-ball fifty that saw MI chase down the target in just over 15 overs.
Positives- A Move That Worked For Mumbai Indians
If you clutch at straws, Tilak Varma in the middle-order might be somewhat of a positive. With three fifties, the youngster built on the reputation he has created for himself. However, in a season of lows, even these contributions were not enough to save them from embarrassment.

Negatives- A Move That Didn’t Work For Mumbai Indians
The decision to bring Hardik Pandya in from Gujarat Titans did not go as planned. The all-rounder struggled to find consistent form with both bat and ball. Additionally, his ascendancy to captaincy disrupted the team’s ecosystem on multiple fronts, leaving Mumbai with more questions than answers at the end of a horrid season.
Mark Boucher on Hardik Pandya’s Performance
Mark Boucher stated that Hardik Pandya would be disappointed with his own performance as both a captain and a player this IPL season, but emphasized that the all-rounder had the full support of the Mumbai Indians dressing room. “I think if he was here, he’d also be disappointed in his performance,” the Mumbai Indians head coach said after the team lost to Lucknow Super Giants, their last IPL game of 2024 at the Wankhede on the night of May 17th.
“From a captain’s perspective, I thought he had some good games. There’s a lot of stuff going on around him that may have clouded his thoughts, which is tough on him as a leader as well. He certainly had a lot of support within our dressing room, and guys were trying to help him out,” the South African said.
“It’s a tough thing to go through as a player, and there was a lot of sympathy for what he was experiencing personally. I think it may be a little uncalled for, and you know, it is what it is. It’ll certainly be a learning curve for Hardik in his growth in leadership.”
Pandya’s appointment as captain of Mumbai Indians before the start of the season was a saga of controversy. There was opposition from the fans and constant reports about dressing room disquiet. As a batsman, he managed an underwhelming 216 runs in 14 games at a lowly average of 18 and took 11 wickets at a none-too-impressive economy rate of 10.75.
“I think a couple of things will pass and they’ll make him a tougher leader, and he’ll certainly grow in the role as well. So I still think there’s some fantastic things coming for Hardik Pandya as a leader. The cricketing side of things, you guys will know the stats,” Boucher noted.
He also addressed the issue of booing that Pandya received from the stands wherever he went. “Yes, it wasn’t great hearing all the boos. I felt sorry for Hardik. It’s never nice to have to go through something like that. Yeah, there’s certain things that we need to address and, as I said, we are going to address them. But now is not probably the right time. Everyone’s very disappointed and emotional, so no good decision will get made.”
Mark Boucher On Rohit Sharma’s Season: A Tale of Two Halves
The coach expressed similar sentiments about Rohit Sharma, who had an average season as a batsman, scoring 417 runs at an average of 32.06 with a strike rate of exactly 150. While he showcased brilliance with a century against Chennai Super Kings, he only managed one other half-century throughout the season. “It’s sort of almost a season of two halves. He started off the season really well, was hitting the ball sweetly in the nets, got a great hundred against CSK as well.”
Rohit Sharma, Image Credits – MI Twitter
“So we honestly thought that he was on a great path for us to go out there and get some good runs for us. Unfortunately, you know, it’s just the nature of T20 as well. He went out there trying to be aggressive, which is the new sort of way of playing as an opening batter, and he got a couple of low scores, which unfortunately didn’t help us in that particular situation as well.”
Stars of This Cycle
In the presence of other seasoned performers, some youngsters made their mark over a rather dismal cycle for MI, which augurs well for their future. Youngsters such as Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, and Naman Dhir all proved to be instant successes, continuing the franchise’s tradition of shining the light on Indian domestic stars.
Who Should They Retain Ahead of The 2025 Mega Auction
Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah would be two names penned in any T20 team across the world at the moment. Despite the age factor, the duo would be automatic choices for retention if it were up to Mumbai Indians. For the third possible slot, the likes of Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, and Tilak Varma all offer dual roles that set them apart from the ordinary. The current captain, Hardik Pandya, could lead the way in that pecking order.

*Retention/RTM rules ahead of the mega auction haven’t been finalized by the IPL GC. This is just a hypothetical case.
Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen has been in the dream form as they completed an invincible Bundesliga campaign and winning their first German league title. They are now on the verge of creating history if they go on to win the Europa League in the same season as well.
However, Atalanta will give a proper fight to the German side as they will look to take the game on to their rivals and end their dream run this season. The Europa League final will be a fitting clash between an Italian and German side.

At the Surface event, Microsoft announced its lineup of Copilot+ PCs, such as the Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11, all equipped with the Snapdragon X series chipsets. The company also exhibited numerous new AI capabilities that will be utilized by the copilot+ PCs and necessitated a robust NPU. Among the capabilities was AI Explorer, known internally, but in this event, named Recall, a prototype for the assertions Microsoft wants to create for Windows 11 with next-generation Windows AI.
More About the Windows 11 Recall
Recall is an Artificial Intelligence IT that occasionally takes a screenshot of the user’s screen. The screenshots can then be used to find items with natural language prompts and can interact with the past product accordingly. For instance, if the user searched for a “brown leather bag” before, typing “brown bag” in Recall will display the relevant timeline from the source app; even if the screenshot taken did not contain any descriptions in text and used solely AI object detection.
Additionally, the user may find and search for emails or snippets found in meeting minutes Recall. This requires a minimum allotment of 25GB of storage or roughly three months’ worth of information retention to use the recall feature. While beneficial, Recall can be considered as too invasive from a privacy standpoint. However, Microsoft sought to address this issue by encrypting and locally storing the screenshots. The integrated NPU handles all AI processing locally, and no personal data is sent to the cloud.
Users have total control over Recall; they can opt to pause the feature or disable it altogether. Users may also select apps and sites to be spared from screenshot capture by Recall. Users can also delete captures individually or in bulk using Settings.
Recall will never capture a screenshot of anything viewed in an Incognito window, any images that are DRM-protected, or engage in content moderation to maintain user privacy and security over private information like passwords and financial information. Recall will continue to be refined through the preview process and updated development based on user input, and Microsoft plans to add additional controls and privacy features in the future.
While the launch of Nothing Phone 2a was a success, Nothing’s fan purchase of high value and the marketing campaign behind Carl Pei’s Bhait are both at play, Android enthusiasts can’t wait to get their hands on the next major flagship Nothing Phone 3. It’s still early days to discuss leaks around the third model, but Carl Pei himself hinted recently at its design and a part of the primary feature. Carl posted on X a couple of days ago that Nothing OS 3 would see a modified quick settings panel.
What is this New Button on the Nothing Phone 3?
From the images, the button is located just below the power button and appears to be smaller than the other buttons, therefore its high placement suggests that it is not dedicated to a camera shutter. Then what is it?
First, it could be a customizable key; similar to the iPhone 15 Action button, the key may be used to set custom actions when pressed, for example turning the torch on or off, taking a screenshot, or activating DND. Given the fact that Nothing has focused on what it likes by offering more customizable features in its OS. Secondly, it could be a dedicated AI button used for summoning the ChatGPT Voice.
In its current releases, Nothing has introduced a feature of launching ChatGPT using their Ear and Ear TWS and added widgets and shortcuts to assist ease the AI chatbot access. Hence this thought wouldn’t be wrong. On the other hand, this could be the Nothing Phone’s or Carl Pei’s version of the OnePlus alert slider. The OnePlus alert slider was first introduced by OnePlus under Carl Pei, given that he later created Nothing, it is possible that he is introducing the alert slider feature again.
The quick settings board in the picture above is outfitted with a horizontal slider that contains the inscription “Vibrate” in the center. The display is comparable to the function of three pictures of the alert slider, signaling that they must be alert sliders. There might be a strategic reason behind acquiring fans and spreading news before Nothing’s Phone 3 is released, as the launch is projected several months from now.
A metal plate runs via the new quick settings phone above, showing that this could be the Phone 3. However, this is only my observation and does not represent factual data. Carl Pei, known for his marketing prowess, is adept at creating hype around his products. The phone in the picture has a metal frame, hinting at the Phone 3, but everything remains speculative for now.
Every substitution in a game must be meticulously planned and executed with care. Some substitutions are pre-planned, while others are made in response to the opposing team’s tactics. In certain situations, substitutions become necessary due to injuries or other unforeseen circumstances. Regardless of the reason, substitute players are expected to make a significant impact on the game.

Some players excel when coming off the bench, demonstrating the ability to turn the game around with their work rate, contributions to the team’s defense, control of the midfield, or by scoring crucial goals—whether equalizers or match-winners.
This season, every Indian Super League (ISL) club, except NorthEast United FC, has had a substitute score for them. A total of 48 goals were scored by substitutes in the 2023-24 season, with FC Goa leading in terms of bench efficiency.
On that note, let’s look at the five teams whose substitutes have scored the most goals this season.
Top 5 ISL Clubs with the Most Goals from Substitutes in the 2023-24 Season
5. Chennaiyin FC – 6 Goals
Chennaiyin FC are tied with the ISL League Winners and ISL Cup Winners for goals scored by substitutes. Owen Coyle made sharp and astute substitutions throughout the season, and these substitutes made significant impacts, often changing the game’s course in their favor.

Six different players scored as substitutes for Chennaiyin FC, with two memorable goals standing out. Jordan Murray’s winning header in the 94th minute secured a 2-1 victory over Odisha FC, and Irfan Yadwad’s strike in the 97th minute completed an epic 3-2 comeback win against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in Kolkata. 3. Mohun Bagan Super Giant – 6 Goals
Given their outstanding performance this season, it’s no surprise that Mohun Bagan Super Giant features prominently in many lists. The Mariners were superb throughout the season, clinching their first ISL League Shield and finishing as runners-up in the ISL Cup.
Mohun Bagan’s Sahal Abdul Samad, Image Credit- ISL Official Website
The Mariners had a deep squad, allowing their coach to rotate players without a drop in quality. Forwards Jason Cummings and Armando Sadiku shared playing minutes throughout the season, effectively coming on as substitutes and scoring two and one goals respectively. Cummings notably put his side ahead in the final league game against Mumbai City FC with the winning goal.
Sahal Abdul Samad, Manvir Singh, and Kiyan Nassiri also each scored as substitutes. Samad’s goal was particularly noteworthy, as he secured the winning goal in stoppage time of the second leg semi-final against Odisha FC, sending his team to the final for the second consecutive season.
2. Jamshedpur FC – 7 Goals
Jamshedpur FC secures the second spot on the list with seven goals, showcasing their effectiveness in deploying substitutes. Five different players have contributed to this tally, underscoring the team’s depth and the tactical prowess of the coach.
Jamshedpur FC, Image Credit – ISL Official Website
A standout performer for Jamshedpur FC was Javier Siverio, who joined mid-season and made significant impacts as a substitute. He found the net against Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC, both matches played at home. Additionally, Seimenlen Doungel also left his mark with two goals coming off the bench.
Daniel Chima Chukwu, Rei Tackikawa, and Steve Ambri were the other players who provided crucial contributions from the bench, each scoring one goal.
1. FC Goa – 8 Goals
Manolo Marquez’s side leads the charts with the most goals scored by substitute players. One standout moment for FC Goa came when a Moroccan player delivered a remarkable performance after being brought on against Hyderabad FC. Entering the game in the second half, he secured his first hat-trick in the ISL, aiding the Gaurs in a commanding 4-0 victory.

Carlos Martinez contributed two goals during his substitute appearances, one against Mohun Bagan Super Giant and the other against Punjab FC. Borja Herrera sealed the winning goal as a substitute against Jamshedpur FC in Matchweek 21, while Victor Rodriguez netted the decisive goal against the same opponent in a previous fixture, which happened to be the solitary goal of the match. Udanta Singh added another goal as a substitute against Chennaiyin FC.
