Gaming giant 2K Games has sent ripples of excitement through the industry with hints of an unannounced remake in development.
This news, unearthed by MP1st from a developer’s LinkedIn profile, adds another layer of intrigue to 2K’s upcoming projects. While details remain shrouded in secrecy, let’s delve into the possibilities and explore what this remake could hold.
Confirmed Projects Already Steaming Ahead
Before diving into the mystery, it’s important to acknowledge the confirmed titles already in 2K’s pipeline. Fans can gear up for a fresh installment in the beloved Mafia series, as confirmed by Hangar 13’s studio head, Roman Hladík.
The dystopian world of BioShock is also poised for a return, with Cloud Chamber actively seeking new talent to support their development team.
A Glimpse into the Vaulted Past: Potential Remake Candidates
The unannounced remake draws attention to 2K’s extensive catalog of franchises. While it’s unlikely that yearly sports titles will be remade, there are numerous other possibilities. For instance, XCOM could see a significant update with both graphical and gameplay improvements, allowing players to once again defend Earth from alien threats in a more thrilling way.
Another potential candidate is Civilization, where players could experience the progression of history with enhanced visuals and refined mechanics as they build their empires anew. Additionally, the Borderlands series by Gearbox could return to its roots.
Although a remaster already exists, a full-fledged remake of the original Borderlands would be a delightful treat for fans. Lastly, despite the BioShock series receiving remasters, a remake of a specific title within the series could still be in the cards. Envision Rapture brought to life with state-of-the-art visuals and gameplay adjustments, offering a fresh yet familiar experience.
Examining the Possibilities: Franchise Breakdown
Delving into the leading contenders, a potential remake of Mafia II with a comprehensive graphical and gameplay overhaul stands out, especially since the first Mafia game has already been remade.
Additionally, Gearbox’s rumored remake of the original Borderlands carries weight due to the absence of a true remake for that title, promising an updated Pandora with enhanced visuals and possible gameplay refinements. Although recent BioShock remasters might make it seem unlikely, a remake focusing on a specific title like BioShock 2 could still surprise fans with its revival.
The Wait Continues: Anticipation Builds
With so many beloved franchises under the 2K umbrella, speculation runs rampant. The lack of concrete details only adds to the excitement. Will we see a strategic return to XCOM’s alien warzones? Perhaps a chance to rebuild empires in a revamped Civilization title? Or maybe a nostalgic loot hunt through a reimagined Pandora in Borderlands?
Only time will tell what 2K has in store. Until then, gamers can eagerly await further news and leaks surrounding this mysterious remake. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments as they unfold.
Beyond the Remake: A Look at 2K’s Future
This unannounced remake adds another exciting chapter to 2K’s bustling development scene. With confirmed projects like the new Mafia and BioShock installments, and the potential for a captivating remake, 2K Games is poised to deliver a diverse and engaging lineup for gamers in the coming years.
Even during Spain’s dominance in international men’s football from 2008 to 2012, they faced criticism for playing boring football. Their tiki-taka style, rooted in possession and slow build-up, was highly effective but not always entertaining.
Their success in three consecutive international tournaments—winning one World Cup and two European Championships—began to wane as the key players aged and their replacements couldn’t match their level. The trophies stopped coming in.
A shocking exit to Morocco in the 2022 World Cup highlighted the need for change. Despite completing 926 passes and holding 77% possession, Spain managed only one shot on target in 120 minutes. Under Luis De la Fuente, things have improved significantly.
The Impact of the Young Trio: Yamal, Williams, and Olmo
Spain now boasts three of the most talented players at Euro 2024: Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams, and Dani Olmo. However, their progress isn’t solely due to this attacking trio. Players like Fabián Ruiz, Rodri, and Marc Cucurella (yes, Chelsea fans, that Marc Cucurella) are also in great form.
Olmo has been a key player in past tournaments, but Williams and Yamal bring a new dynamic. Williams, who played a limited role in the 2022 World Cup, is now fully integrated into the team’s tactics. His speed and Yamal’s skills are now crucial elements of Spain’s strategy.
Williams entered the European Championship this summer riding a wave of good form with La Liga’s Athletic Club during the 2023-24 season.
In the previous season, no player in the Spanish top flight assisted more goals following a ball carry than Williams, who had seven such assists. His expected assists (xA) per 90 minutes average of 0.30 was the third-best among players with at least 1,500 minutes played, trailing only Álex Baena (0.33) and Iago Aspas (0.31).
At Euro 2024, Williams has maintained impressive form, averaging the highest expected assists per 90 minutes (0.48) among players with at least 250 minutes played. Over the last three European Championships, only one player has averaged higher—Spain’s David Silva at Euro 2016 (0.61).
More Spanish players follow him on this list: of all players who have logged at least 250 minutes at Euro 2024, his teammates Yamal (0.41) and Olmo (0.40) are next in line.
Yamal’s chance creation has been pivotal in Spain’s journey to the semi-finals, with the Barcelona prodigy generating more chances (14) than any other player in De la Fuente’s squad and ranking fourth overall in the tournament.
His third assist—a brilliant pass for Olmo’s opening goal against Germany in the quarter-finals—made him the first teenager to record three assists in a single European Championship or World Cup (since 1966). He currently shares the top spot in the Euro 2024 assist charts with Dutchman Xavi Simons, despite having played 39 minutes less.
And let’s not forget, Yamal is just 16 years old.
As the youngest player and goalscorer in Spanish national team history, Yamal also became the youngest player to appear in a European Championship with his debut in Spain’s opening match against Croatia (at 16 years and 338 days old).
A goal at this tournament would make him the youngest scorer in Euros history, surpassing Johan Vonlanthen’s record by nearly two years. Though he has had 13 attempts so far, only Cristiano Ronaldo (with 23 shots) has had more attempts without scoring at these finals.
Yamal’s performances at Euro 2024 are remarkable for his age, and he has the potential to break even more European Championship records in the future.
Operating primarily on the right wing but favoring his left foot, Yamal’s ability to deliver dangerous inswinging crosses has been evident in his assists—such as the one for Dani Carvajal against Croatia and the cross for Fabián Ruiz’s header in the last-16 win over Georgia.
Both crosses were nearly identical and virtually impossible to defend. Unlike Williams, who often reaches the byline, Yamal prefers to cut back inside and deliver a cross with his left foot.
Crossing isn’t the only way Yamal threatens opponents. His dribbling prowess is also a significant asset, as he has averaged 9.1 take-ons per 90 minutes at this tournament—only Jérémy Doku (10.9) and France’s Ousmane Dembélé (9.2) have a higher average among players with at least 250 minutes on the pitch.
Yamal also leads the tournament in shot involvements resulting from a ball carry. With five shots and six chances created after a run of at least 5 meters, his total of 11 shot involvements is the highest of any player in the competition.
Unlike Williams and Yamal, Olmo brings a wealth of tournament experience for Spain. With five appearances at Euro 2020 and four more at the 2022 World Cup, Olmo has been part of some of Spain’s recent tournament disappointments.
The Challenge Ahead: Spain vs. France in the Semi-Finals
Although Dani Olmo has started only one of Spain’s five matches at Euro 2024 so far, he is expected to feature from the start against France. He made a notable impact from the bench in Spain’s quarter-final victory over Germany, coming on for the injured Pedri and contributing significantly.
The RB Leipzig midfielder has bolstered the Spanish side in all of his substitute appearances during this tournament, scoring against Georgia in the last 16 and adding a goal and an assist in the quarter-final on Friday.
As a direct and dynamic player, Olmo provides a central ball-carrying option for Spain, complementing the wing play of Williams and Yamal.
At Euro 2024, Olmo has been carrying the ball upfield an average of 146.1 meters per 90 minutes, the fifth highest among all attacking midfielders and forwards with at least 250 minutes played. Yamal ranks first in this category (178.6m), while Williams is eighth (130.0m).
Olmo also ranks in the top 10 for take-ons per 90 minutes (6.1), with a take-on success rate of 66.7%, the highest at the tournament among the 25 players who have attempted at least 15 take-ons.
It’s easy to overlook that Olmo, Williams, and Yamal have the opportunity to supply one of the all-time leading goal scorers in European Championship history. Spanish captain Álvaro Morata has scored 7 goals at the Euros, trailing only Ronaldo (14) and French legend Michel Platini (9). As this is likely to be Morata’s final European Championship, he will be aiming to close in on or even match Platini’s record. Morata currently holds 36 international goals for Spain, placing him fourth in the all-time men’s national team rankings, behind David Villa (59), Raúl (44), and Fernando Torres (38).
On paper, France’s squad is arguably the strongest at Euro 2024. Their defense has been breached just once throughout the tournament—a Robert Lewandowski penalty in a dead-rubber group match—while they have failed to score from any of their 86 non-penalty shots.
With France giving opponents the lowest quality chances to score at Euro 2024—boasting a 0.69 non-penalty xG against per 90 minutes, the best rate of the tournament—this match will be a significant test for Spain’s dynamic attacking trio. However, it is a challenge they should feel confident about overcoming.

For the second time in five years, these two European powerhouses face off in a semi-final. The Netherlands emerged victorious 3-1 after extra time in their Nations League clash in 2019. Given their history, it wouldn’t be surprising if this highly-anticipated encounter went the distance again; five of their last eight meetings have ended in a draw after 90 minutes.
The Netherlands secured their first EURO semi-final appearance since 2004 by defeating Türkiye. England, meanwhile, have reached this stage for the second consecutive tournament.
Who won Euro 2020?
Italy
Here’s a preview and prediction for the Euro 2024 semi-final between the Netherlands and England, set to take place on Thursday in Dortmund.
England have stumbled through Euro 2024, but they’ve still managed to reach another semi-final.
For the third time at a major tournament under Gareth Southgate, the Three Lions have made it to the last four. Since the start of the 2018 World Cup, the only competition in which they failed to reach this stage was the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Now, standing in their way of a consecutive Euros final are the Netherlands.
Ronald Koeman’s side was unconvincing in the group stage but have found their form in the knockout rounds. Unlike their opponents in Dortmund on Wednesday, the Netherlands have hit their stride in the knockouts.
England needed extra time and a stunning goal from Jude Bellingham to overcome Slovakia, then relied on perfect penalty kicks and a crucial save from Jordan Pickford to defeat Switzerland. In contrast, the Netherlands defeated Romania 3-0 and Turkey 2-1 within 90 minutes.
England have gone to extra time in both of their knockout matches so far. Only Portugal at Euro 2016, and Spain and Italy at Euro 2020, have ever gone to extra time three times in a single edition of the finals.
While Southgate has faced criticism for England’s performances in Germany, his major tournament record is impressive.
From 1996 to 2018, England went 22 years without reaching a semi-final. Since then, they’ve made it to the final four three times, including their World Cup run in Russia six years ago.
After 65 years without reaching a men’s final, England is now on the verge of back-to-back appearances in a major tournament’s biggest event. Only five teams have reached consecutive Euro finals: USSR (1960/1964), Germany (1972/1976, 1976/1980, 1992/1996), and Spain (2008/2012).
This marks England’s fourth appearance in the semi-finals of the European Championship. They were eliminated in the first two in 1968 (vs Yugoslavia) and 1996 (vs Germany). At Euro 2020, they reached the final after defeating Denmark 2-1 but lost on penalties to Italy at Wembley.
Bukayo Saka redeemed his 2021 penalty miss with a composed effort in the shootout against Switzerland and forced extra time with a superb strike. He is likely to start on the right again despite recent discussions about moving him to the left, especially with Luke Shaw returning from the bench in the quarter-finals.
For the Netherlands, this will be their sixth Euros semi-final. They have lost their last four, with their only victory in 1988 when they went on to win the tournament. Marco van Basten scored one of the most famous goals in Euros history in that final in Munich.
This is the Netherlands’ first Euros semi-final since 2004 when they lost 2-1 to host nation Portugal. Back then, there were only 16 teams in the competition, making the path to the semi-finals shorter than it is now.
Netherlands vs England: Head-to-Head
This marks the fourth encounter between England and the Netherlands at a major tournament. The Oranje triumphed 3-1 at Euro 88, thanks to a Van Basten hat-trick, followed by a goalless draw at the 1990 World Cup, and a 4-1 England victory at Euro 96.
Among all the nations England have faced 20+ times in their history, only against Brazil (15%) do they have a lower win rate than against the Netherlands (27% – W6 D9 L7).
In fact, England have won just one of their last nine meetings with the Netherlands in all competitions (D4 L4), with their sole victory being a 1-0 friendly match in Amsterdam in March 2018.
Netherlands vs England: Recent Form
Netherlands: WWLDW
England: WWDDW
Netherlands vs England: Team News and Predicted Line-up
Netherlands: Team News
The Netherlands have one spot in their attack up for grabs as they prepare to face England in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
Wout Weghorst is making a strong case to lead the line after another impressive performance off the bench in the Dutch victory over Turkey.
Steven Bergwijn has struggled in his recent starts on the right flank, making way for Jeremie Frimpong and Donyell Malen, who has had a mixed Euros highlighted by two late goals against Romania in the last-16.
Ronald Koeman has used Weghorst, who is still under contract with Burnley, as a super-sub in Germany. However, there are increasing calls for him to start, especially with a place in the final at stake.
Starting Weghorst would allow Memphis Depay to play in a free role behind the striker and move Xavi Simons to the right wing, while Cody Gakpo looks to continue his strong form on the left.
Joey Veerman began the tournament in the Netherlands’ starting XI but has since been replaced by AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders and PSV Eindhoven’s Jerdy Schouten.
The Dutch have a settled defense with Virgil van Dijk and Stefan de Vrij preferred over Matthijs de Ligt and Micky van de Ven. The Tottenham defender has been used as a substitute left-back for Nathan Ake in all four of his appearances at the Euros.
Denzel Dumfries will provide pace and power from the right-back position, and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen is set to continue in goal.
Netherlands: Predicted Lineup
Goalkeeper: Verbruggen
Defenders: Dumfries, De Vrij, Van Dijk, Ake
Midfielders: Schouten, Reijnders, Simon
Forwards: Depay, Gakpo, Bergwijn
England: Team News
Gareth Southgate faces a crucial decision on whether Luke Shaw is ready to start England’s semi-final against the Netherlands as their Euro 2024 campaign nears its climax.
Southgate’s team has reached their third semi-final in the last four tournaments and is just one win away from becoming the first England men’s team to reach a major final overseas.
Shaw made his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury as a substitute during the dramatic quarter-final victory over Switzerland. He played nearly 45 minutes without issues after the match extended to penalties.
The Manchester United star is the only specialist left-back in Southgate’s squad. The Three Lions boss must decide whether Shaw is ready for his first start in five months against the Dutch in Dortmund or if Kieran Trippier will continue as his deputy.
Shaw has expressed his readiness to start, but the final decision is yet to be made.
Additionally, Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guehi is available again after suspension and is likely to replace Ezri Konsa, though Konsa performed well against the Swiss and also has chances to start.
Southgate’s other significant decision is whether to use a back three or back four. England switched to a wing-back system against Switzerland, producing arguably their best performance of the tournament. However, since the Dutch play with a back four, Southgate might consider matching Ronald Koeman’s side.
England: Predicted Lineup
Goalkeeper: Pickford
Defenders: Walker, Stones, Guehi
Midfielders: Saka, Mainoo, Rice, Trippier
Forwards: Foden, Bellingham, Kane
Netherlands vs England: Match Prediction
England clearly possess more talent and experience in these games. Southgate highlighted this after the win over Switzerland, and it should play a significant role here.
While England’s defense has been stellar, they struggle to finish off opponents and appear vulnerable to counter-attacks when they take risks.
However, the Dutch have their own issues. Their defense can be slow and ponderous, they’ve lacked midfield control, and they lack a killer touch in attack. Nonetheless, they can be dangerous with crosses, quick interchanges, and long-range shots.
This is expected to be a tight game that could go the distance, but England’s knowhow and quality might pull them through.
Prediction: England to win on penalties.

Stars of “Deadpool and Wolverine”, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds recently appeared on Spain’s RTVE to promote their upcoming movie. While there, the two were asked about the ongoing European Championship, and who they were supporting.
Jackman joked that England needed a bit of height in defence, and would happily join them in the semifinals as they take on The Netherlands.
Ryan Reynolds reveals he doesn’t support England in the Euros

The Canadian will also be backing his home country when they take on Argentina in the semifinals of the 2024 Copa America. But, in Europe, he is firmly behind La Roja as they take on France in the semifinals.

James Rodriguez has been in sensational form in the 2024 Copa America, scoring once and providing five assists this far. The midfielder has also created 14 chances in the tournament, which is the most of any player.
His resurgence has been a delight to watch, and is surprising given his form at the club level for Sao Paulo. While he hasn’t been able to deliver for the Brazilian side, he has been a completely different player for the national team, as is evident by the numbers.
James Rodriguez’s top form could help them reach the Copa America 2024 finals
Colombia are in the semifinals of the Copa America, and face a huge challenge to make it to the finals in the form of a resurgent Uruguay. The Albiceleste eliminated Brazil on penalties in the quarter finals to secure a semifinal spot for themselves, while Colombia defeated Panama 5-0.
Rodriguez has struggled at the top level for many years now, but things finally seem to be clicking for the 32-year-old attacking midfielder.
Uruguay must find a way to neutralise the threat posed by the former Real Madrid midfielder if they are to have a chance at winning the game. And the duo of Fede Valverde and Manuel Ugarte will surely have an intense battle in the centre of the park, given their individual quality.
Lille defender Leny Yoro only wants to sign for Real Madrid in case of a transfer in 2024. The 18-year-old has long been rumoured as one of the top targets in central defence for Los Blancos, and talks are now getting underway between the two clubs.
Madrid need a new defender to replace the outgoing Nacho Fernandez, who was also their club captain this past season. And the prolific French youngster could be a brilliant addition to the squad.
Leny Yoro only wants Real Madrid move to fulfill his dream
Liverpool and PSG have been linked with the talented teenager over the past few weeks. But, they are far behind Madrid in the order of preference for the player. The only situation in which they can sign him is if the deal somehow collapses.
Leny Yoro is out of contract with his boyhood club in 2025, and he has informed the hierarchy that he will not sign a new deal at the club. As a result, Lille are in a tight situation and may have no other choice but to cash in on the player.
A potential fee worth €40 million plus add-ons has been rumoured for the defender. However, the details are yet to be finalised between the two parties.
