Blast Trailer Out: Arjun Sarja Leads A High-Impact Family Action Thriller with Abhirami and Preity Mukhundhan

The official trailer of Blast, starring Arjun Sarja in the lead, is out, and it positions the veteran “Action King” at the centre of a family‑driven action thriller with a strong emotional core. Backed by AGS Entertainment and directed by debutant Subash K Raj, the Tamil film hits theatres on 28 May 2026.

Key Film & Trailer Details

The trailer also showcases Preity Mukhundhan and Abhirami alongside Arjun, with music by Ravi Basrur, the composer best known for the KGF franchise, making his Tamil debut.

What The Trailer Reveals: A Quiet Family With A Violent Secret

The Blast trailer introduces Arjun as Rajaraman, the head of a modest, middle‑class family that appears disarmingly ordinary—until violence comes knocking. We see:

• A warm, everyday dynamic between Rajaraman, his wife Neelaveni (Abhirami) and daughter Nila (Preity Mukhundhan).
• Hints that this “normal” family is in fact highly trained in martial arts, with quick flashes of disciplined practice and controlled aggression.
• Their lives thrown into chaos after they cross paths with a ruthless gang and a container full of illicit money, setting up a house‑siege style conflict.

The central hook, as the makers themselves describe it, is a family “trained to protect the powerless” who end up becoming “the most dangerous obstacle of all.”

Visually, the trailer mixes:

• Grounded family moments – dinner‑table conversations, school‑teacher visuals, low‑key humour.
• Stylised action – corridor fights, one‑versus‑many brawls, and tightly choreographed stunt work inside cramped interiors rather than just big outdoor set‑pieces.

Ravi Basrur’s score leans on heavy percussion and “mass” build‑ups, giving the family‑centric fights a larger‑than‑life energy while the visuals stay fairly grounded.

Arjun Sarja At The Centre: Action King In Family Mode

For Arjun Sarja, Blast is being positioned as a quintessential “Action King” vehicle with a twist: instead of a lone hero, he’s the anchor of a three‑member combat unit – father, mother and daughter.

Key points about Arjun’s presence:

• He plays Rajaraman, a seemingly mild‑mannered school headmaster whose real skill set emerges when his family is threatened.
• The trailer frames him as both protector and strategist, coordinating fights and shielding his family while also unleashing old‑school hand‑to‑hand combat.
• Blast also reunites Arjun and Abhirami on screen after their earlier collaboration in Vaanavil, adding a nostalgia angle for long‑time Tamil cinema viewers.

For fans of Arjun’s 90s and early‑2000s action cinema, the trailer feels like a contemporary spin on his classic template: upright protagonist, family stakes, and a moral justification for every punch thrown.

Cast And Characters

Main Cast

Abhirami has spoken openly about how demanding the stunt work was, noting that she gained a new respect for action performers after shooting multiple days of heavy fights.

Behind The Camera: Subash K Raj & Ravi Basrur

Subash K Raj makes his feature debut with Blast after working as an assistant to director Pradeep Ranganathan. He has described the film as an “action entertainer that audiences from all walks of life can enjoy together as a family,” built around “intriguing events” between a loving family and a gang intent on destruction.

Key Crew

For Basrur, this is a headline project: his first full‑fledged Tamil film as composer after his breakout work on KGF, and the trailer leans heavily on his aggressive sound to sell the scale of the action.

Tone And Expectations After The Trailer

Early coverage has praised the Blast trailer for:

• “Strong emotions and stylish action moments”, balancing family drama with high‑impact set‑pieces.
• A “grounded edge” despite big stunts, thanks to the middle‑class setting and tight, interior‑heavy choreography.

With Arjun back at the centre of a theatrical‑scale action film, Abhirami and Preity Mukhundhan forming a fighting trio, and Ravi Basrur’s music promising a loud, massy soundscape, Blast is being positioned as a wholesome yet high‑octane family entertainer for its late‑May release.
