BLACKPINK Makes History: “DDU-DU DDU-DU” Becomes First K-Pop Group MV to Smash 2.4 Billion Views!

Hey BLINKs! It is time to pull out those lightsticks and celebrate because our favorite “Queens of K-pop” have officially broken the internet yet again. On July 24, 2026, BLACKPINK achieved a monumental milestone as the music video for their 2018 anthem, “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” officially surpassed 2.4 billion views on YouTube.

This isn’t just a big number—it’s a historic first. “DDU-DU DDU-DU” is now the first-ever music video by a K-pop group to reach this staggering peak. While soloists like Psy have been here before, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa are the first group to conquer this “digital Everest.”

The Road to 2.4 Billion: Why This MV is Unstoppable

To understand how a song from 2018 is still breaking records in 2026, we have to look at the “four pillars” of its longevity:

Step 1: The Iconic “Point Dance”
The “finger-gun” choreography became an instant global sensation. Even today, it remains one of the most covered dances in K-pop history, driving constant re-watches from new fans joining the fandom every day.

Step 2: High-Budget Cinematic Visuals
From Jennie on a glittery tank to Lisa with a literal cockatoo, the MV set a new gold standard for production value. Its vibrant, high-fashion aesthetic makes it a visual masterpiece that hasn’t aged a day since its release.

Step 3: The Power of a Global Fandom
BLINKs are famously dedicated. Following the recent news of Rosé’s “APT.” hitting 2.5 billion views, the fandom has been on a streaming spree to ensure the group’s “foundation” hits stay at the top of the YouTube charts.

Step 4: Cultural Longevity
“DDU-DU DDU-DU” isn’t just a song; it’s a cultural touchstone. It paved the way for K-pop’s mainstream dominance in the West and remains a staple in clubs, festivals, and sporting events worldwide.
