After being banned in India last year due to security concerns related to Chinese-linked apps, BGMI is reportedly set to make a comeback in the country. However, certain conditions will be imposed on its return.
According to a report by News18, the Indian government has decided to temporarily lift the ban on BGMI for three months. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is expected to issue an order to unblock the game from the Google Play Store and App Store. The information was reportedly provided by a senior MeitY official.
During these three months, BGMI will be closely analyzed and monitored by the authorities. If the app is found to violate any of the country’s rules, it may face another ban.
The re-launched BGMI is anticipated to come with several changes and adjustments. Rumors suggest that there will be time limits and restrictions on the number of hours players can spend in the game. Krafton, the developer of BGMI, also intends to reduce graphic violence by changing the color of blood in the game. Previously, players in India had the option to change the blood color to red or green, but now it will be set to default.
Despite the lifting of the ban, no official announcement has been made by Krafton or the Indian government regarding the return of BGMI. Reports about its comeback have been circulating for months. However, even with the ban lifted, the game will face scrutiny and operate under strict conditions. BGMI was immensely popular in India, boasting over 100 million users before the ban was imposed.
