The problem of teams and individuals violating codes of conduct and breaking anti-cheating laws has been a heated topic in the Battlegrounds Mobile India or BGMI community in the weeks following the commencement of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023.
Global Esports was one of the teams competing in this tournament who faced backlash as a result of these allegations. As a result of all of this, Global Esports has announced that BGMI lineups would be disbanded, which is sure to cause some consternation in the community, mainly because the individuals involved are hinting that they are not guilty.
The entire community was focused on Global Esports since they hired alleged hackers to play for one of their three BGMI teams, Team Mayavi, which is coached by Mayavi, a BGMI pundit, analyst, and content creator.
Content creators and other BGMI esports players linked with T1 teams on YouTube fanned the suspicions even more. However, the four-man team and its coach, Mayavi, have denied all of the claims as of today.
Dr. Rushindra Sinha, the CEO and owner of Global Esports, claimed earlier today in a live stream that has been concealed from the channel since it concluded that GE is terminating its contract with all of its BGMI teams and will begin again.
The decision was reportedly made to avoid the poor publicity which was caused by the rumors of hacking and scamming going around. According to the CEO, the reputation of Global Esports as a whole is superior to that of Team Mayavi or the GE Phoenixes.
Aside from the well-publicized hacking charges levelled against Team Mayavi, Global Esports’ female BGMI roster, GE Phoenix, was also accused of ringing and slot scamming. The IGL of GE Phoenix, GE Vixen, allegedly duped the owner of one Sting Esports into acquiring a BGIS slot for her own team. During the tournament, they were accused of ringing, or using an alias to field another player who was not enrolled with the squad.
Given the charges of taking another team’s slot, the move that saw Global Esports disband BGMI lineups has thus extended to this lineup as well.
In other news, the in-game informal language of Battlegrounds Mobile India, known as BGMI Ki Boli, is being celebrated in a new film by KRAFTON. In the movie, users speak in their original languages about their gaming experiences and some of the game’s most well-known in-game callouts. The video was recieved positively by the players.
