Between Steps New Poster: Choo Young Woo’s Silent Struggle Sets the Tone for ENA’s Next Big Romance

A single image can say more than a trailer sometimes. The new poster for Between Steps shows Choo Young Woo sitting alone on a laboratory floor, and that quiet, unsettled image is already telling fans this isn’t going to be a typical romance.

Between Steps : Overview

The Story: Two People Rebuilding After Loss

Between Steps follows Park Min Jae, played by Choo Young Woo, a former competitive swimmer who lost his right leg to illness and had to give up the dream that defined him. Rather than staying stuck in that loss, he redirected his life toward robotics, quietly pursuing doctoral research while struggling to express what he feels inside.

Opposite him is Im Yoo Jin, played by Kim So Hyun, a graduate student who’s lost her own sense of direction and is searching for a new path forward. When the two meet, Min Jae’s carefully guarded world starts to shift in ways he didn’t expect.

What the New Poster Reveals?

The image shows Min Jae seated on a lab floor, his expression distant and troubled, a sharp contrast from his usual composed demeanor. It’s a deliberate tease: something happens in that laboratory setting that unsettles him, and the poster leans into mystery rather than spelling it out.

Choo Young Woo on Playing a Quietly Wounded Character

The actor has been thoughtful about how he’s approaching Min Jae, explaining that he didn’t want to portray him as someone endlessly suffering from the past. Instead, Min Jae understands his circumstances better than anyone and quietly looks for what he can still do within them. Choo Young Woo has also noted that Min Jae’s past wounds shape how cautious and anxious he becomes in love, since he’s afraid of hurting the people close to him and sometimes sees himself as weak.

What the Production Team Is Promising?

The team behind Between Steps has described it as a story about young people carrying their own shortcomings, one built to resonate emotionally. Min Jae and Yoo Jin are positioned to offer each other courage and comfort in their own ways, with their growth through one another meant to bring both empathy and excitement to viewers.

Given that this marks one of the final projects from the late director Ahn Pan Seok, known for delivering some of Korean television’s most emotionally resonant romances, expectations for Between Steps are already running high.
