Barcelona‘s transfer nightmare is complete! A shocking WhatsApp message has been revealed as the killing blow that destroyed their pursuit of Nico Williams, leading to the Spanish winger’s stunning 10-year renewal with Athletic Club until 2035. This transfer blunder will haunt the Catalan giants for years.

Transfer Collapse: The Timeline

Transfer Detail	Information
Target Player	Nico Williams (Athletic Club)
Barcelona’s Goal	Sign as new winger
Final Outcome	10-year renewal with Athletic Club
Contract Until	2035
Killing Blow	WhatsApp message about agent change
Current Agent	Felix Tainta
Suggested Agents	Jorge Mendes, Pini Zahavi

The WhatsApp That Broke Everything

What started as a promising transfer quickly turned into Barcelona’s worst nightmare. Initially, negotiations between Deco and Nico’s agent Felix Tainta were progressing, despite concerns about La Liga registration guarantees.

The Fatal Mistake: Frustrated with Tainta’s position, Barcelona made an unprecedented move – they sent Nico Williams a direct WhatsApp message asking him to replace his agent with either Jorge Mendes or Pini Zahavi.

Why This Backfired Spectacularly

The Williams family has maintained a very close relationship with Felix Tainta for years. Barcelona’s suggestion to dump their trusted agent for someone more convenient to the club was seen as deeply disrespectful.

Family Loyalty Wins: The entire Williams family was outraged by Barcelona’s audacious request. For them, loyalty isn’t negotiable – a lesson Barcelona learned the hard way.

The Immediate Fallout

The reaction was swift and brutal:

Same afternoon: Nico closed renewal negotiations with Athletic Club
Same night: Recorded his renewal announcement video
Next day: Athletic Club officially announced the 10-year extension

Barcelona’s Arrogance: The Catalans’ assumption that they could dictate agent changes shows a stunning lack of respect for player relationships and family values that run deeper than football politics.

Bottom Line: Barcelona’s WhatsApp message demanding Nico Williams change agents backfired catastrophically, leading to his immediate 10-year Athletic Club renewal and a transfer lesson in respecting player loyalties.
