Pre-season is finally here, and Barcelona kicks it off the way every era should start — with a new manager, a patched-together squad, and a local underdog standing in the way. Barcelona vs CE Europa marks Hansi Flick’s very first match in charge, and while it’s a friendly, nobody in Catalonia is calling it meaningless.
The fixture takes place at Barça’s own training complex, and while it won’t be broadcast to the public, it’s already the most talked-about pre-season opener in years.

Team News and Lineups
Don’t expect Barcelona’s usual star-studded XI. With around eight first-team players still involved in the World Cup, Flick is set to lean heavily on Barça Atlètic and Juvenil U-18 talents to fill out his matchday squad. It’s a rare early audition for the club’s next generation — names like Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart broke through in similar preseason windows before.
CE Europa, meanwhile, arrive in solid form. Competing in the Primera Federación, Spain’s third tier, the Catalan side currently sit mid-table with a balanced points record built on tight, disciplined performances — a tricky puzzle even for a weakened Barça side.
Prediction
Despite fielding a youth-heavy lineup, Barcelona’s superior depth and structure should be enough to see off CE Europa comfortably. Expect goals from fringe attackers looking to catch Flick’s eye early in preseason.

Why This Match Matters
This isn’t about the scoreline. It’s Flick’s first look at his squad, his first chance to test fringe players, and the unofficial start of Barcelona’s title defense build-up. For CE Europa, it’s the biggest fixture on their calendar — a genuine shot at bragging rights against their giant neighbors.
