Barcelona announce partnership with Spotify from the 2022-23 season

Barcelona have unveiled Spotify as their new sponsors starting from the upcoming 22/23 season. As part of the deal, Barcelona’s stadium, the Camp Nou stadium, will be renamed for the first time in 65 years.

The first team’s home ground will now be known as the Spotify Nou Camp, following the agreement of the deal. Spotify will be sponsors of the club for the next four years, creating a groundbreaking partnership with the Spanish giants.

Barcelona announce highly anticipated Spotify sponsorship

Barca president Joan Laporte said: ‘We are very proud to announce a pioneering alliance like this with a world-renowned organization like Spotify.

‘This partnership will allow us to continue to bring the Club closer to its fans and make them feel, even more, part of the Barca family through unique experiences, combining two activities such as entertainment and football, making it possible for us to connect with new audiences around the world.

‘It is also a union with which we continue to take steps forward in this new era that we have started, and which demonstrates, once again, the innovative character and the constant search of excellence that distinguish Barca and have made it a unique club in the world.’

The new partnership will allow artists to showcase their talent through the partnership with Spotify. Events could also be held at Camp Nou to further the cause of the two partners. Spotify will be sponsoring Barcelona’s training kits for the next three years as part of the deal as well.

Daniel Ek, the owner of Spotify, will not be prevented from owning a football club as part of the arrangement. He was previously rumoured to be interested in buying Arsenal from Stan Kroenke, but wasn’t able to convince the owner to sell. If he wishes to pursue his ambition of owning a club, the new deal will not stand in its way.
