Barcelona rule out Erling Haaland signing for June 2022

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has ruled out the signing of Erling Haaland in the summer. The Norwegian striker has a release clause worth €75 million in his contract, which becomes active at the end of the season.

The total signing fee, including his wages and high agent fee, would come to around €300 million over five years. And as a result of the huge financial cost of the transfer, Laporta has decided that Barcelona will not risk their well-being to sign the Borussia Dortmund star.

“I will not talk about specific players but I can tell you that we will not do any deals that puts the club at risk,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo. “The members can be calm because we are not going to lose our heads over an operation of this magnitude.

“Most players want to come to Barcelona, they like the club, the team, our philosophy, our way of working, of interpreting football. And this is good, we are seeing this in many cases and on a daily basis.

“They will have to adapt to Barcelona’s salary levels and to an economic structure of the deal that maintains the sustainability and balance of the club.”

Manchester City and Real Madrid are also in the race for the prolific youngster. Los Blancos are also the favourites to sign Kylian Mbappe for a free transfer in the summer. And a result, they could end up signing both forwards in the summer.
