Barcelona agree £172 million wage cut with players

Things finally seem to be looking good for Barcelona in terms of the finances, as the club announced they had agreed a 172 million euro pay cut among the players.

Currently, in charge of Barcelona, Carlos Tusquets recently announced in an interview with Marca that the players of Barcelona would not receive their salary for January owing to the disastrous financial condition of the club.

The payments of the players have been deferred by about three years according to the latest updates and a further 50 million in bonuses have been postponed by 5 years.

Barcelona reported a loss of close to 100 million euros in total during the 19/20 financial year and are losing a hefty amount every match day that is played in Camp Nou.

Tusquets revealed in this very same interview that he would have allowed Messi to leave if he were in charge of the club at the time. The reason being the humongous wages commanded by the Argentine superstar at the club.

Here's why Frenkie de Jong had his hand bandaged in the match against Napoli

Many first-team players were let go due to the financial pressure created following the doubling of that to about five hundred million euros in only one year.

Marc Andre Ter-Stegen, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Frenkie de Jong are among the players that have agreed on an extended deal with the club but will see their wages reduce in the near future.

These players will be reimbursed in the future when the financial situation at the club improves. A partnership with Amazon was reportedly on the cards for the club, and a deal with a global brand of their stature would surely ease plenty of Barcelona’s financial burdens.
