Every month, a parent sends money to a child studying in another city, and every month they repeat the same transfer by hand. Bank of India has just made that routine unnecessary. The bank has gone live with User-Level Programmable CBDC and Auto Issuance on its platform, built by Montran India. How It Works?

Set it once, and the system handles the rest. The sender schedules a fixed amount of e₹ to land in a beneficiary’s CBDC wallet at a chosen frequency. They also define what the money can be spent on, so the funds carry their intended use with them. Picture a parent crediting a child’s wallet on the same date each month, spendable only on the tuition, meals and education costs the parent approved in advance.

Why It Matters?

Bank of India’s General Manager and CTO, Ashutosh Mishra, says it gives customers more flexibility and control over recurring payments while sparing them the same monthly task.
