Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8: Cross-Play, New Subclasses, and Photo Mode Coming Soon

Players will be able to sign up in advance for stress testing for the update, which is set to begin in January. We’ll provide additional information on how and when to participate in the next Community Update. While the exact release date for Patch 8 is still unknown, the upcoming features are sure to excite players. Cross-play has also been added, so players on all supported platforms can invite each other into a shared lobby, while multiplayer lobbies can be explored with others on a range of systems via the Larian Network.

The new subclasses include a combination of fan favorites from Dungeons & Dragons and original creations. Of note is the Drunken Master Monk, which joins the ranks of the Swarmkeeper Ranger, Arcane Archer Fighter, and Bladesinging Wizard. Players can check out these new classes in greater detail on the game’s Steam page. Finally, introducing Photo Mode for the first time in this update, players can customize elements to set them up for scenic photoshoots of their characters in journeys, fights, and cinematic. In addition, players can use more than 300 emojis, stickers, and objects; and frame and texture, customize photos.

While Larian confirmed that heavy updates for Baldur’s Gate 3 are winding down, they promised that modding support will be ongoing. We have been listening to your feedback, and there are a number of changes in the modding tools that will allow you more creative freedom to tell the stories that you want in the game, which will help further updates in modding. You can currently buy Baldur’s Gate 3 for $48, while the Digital Deluxe Edition DLC is $8 on Steam.
