Back in Action OTT Release Date: Cameron Diaz is set to light up screens once again! After an 11-year hiatus, the Hollywood star is returning to the limelight with Netflix’s highly anticipated spy-action comedy “Back in Action.”
Sharing the screen with Jamie Foxx, her co-star from “Annie,” the film is all set to premiere on January 17, exclusively on Netflix.
Plot Packed with Thrills and Comedy
“Back in Action” follows the thrilling journey of a retired CIA agent couple, Emily (played by Diaz) and Matt (played by Foxx). Their suburban peace is shattered when their covert identities are exposed, forcing them back into the field for a high-stakes mission. The trailer teases intense action sequences, from a flamethrower-wielding Foxx to the duo narrowly escaping a plummeting plane with a parachute.
Adding a comedic twist, Foxx humorously compares their spy adventures to Jason Bourne, quipping, “We remember stuff.” This blend of suspense and humor promises a rollercoaster ride for viewers.
Star-Studded Cast and Visionary Team
The film boasts a stellar ensemble, including Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts, and Rylan Jackson. Directed by Seth Gordon, known for hits like “Horrible Bosses” and “Baywatch,” the film is a perfect concoction of action and humor.
Gordon collaborated with Brendan O’Brien, co-writer of the comedy classic “Neighbors,” to craft the screenplay.
Cameron Diaz’s Long-Awaited Comeback
Cameron Diaz’s return to acting marks a significant moment for fans worldwide. The actress, who stepped away from the industry in 2014 to focus on her family and personal pursuits, expressed her excitement about stepping back into the spotlight. During her time away, Diaz launched her successful wine brand Avaline and made occasional appearances on shows like “The Drew Barrymore Show” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
Beyond “Back in Action,” Diaz will also lend her voice to the upcoming animated sequel “Shrek 5,” further solidifying her comeback to Hollywood.
Jamie Foxx: Back in the Spotlight
Jamie Foxx also makes a significant return with “Back in Action” after recovering from a health scare last year.
Although Foxx has remained private about the specifics of his medical emergency, he is set to open up about the incident in his Netflix stand-up special, “What Had Happened Was.” His dynamic performance alongside Diaz is bound to captivate audiences.
