The Return of ‘Prem’ — Why This Matters

The iconic character of Prem — synonymous with innocent charm and gentle mischief — was last seen in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in 2015. That was 11 years ago. Sooraj Barjatya’s films have always been more than just movies; they’re cultural events that bring families together, and the revival of this beloved character under a fresh avatar with Ayushmann Khurrana is a genuinely exciting prospect.

Ayushmann’s portrayal is described as embodying gentle simplicity with a touch of playful innocence — a tonal fit that feels just right for the role. Alongside him, Sharvari brings the grit and substance that Rajshri heroines have always been known for. The fact that this is the first time the two actors are sharing screen space makes it all the more intriguing.

And then there’s the music. Himesh Reshammiya — who composed the unforgettable score for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo — returns as music composer, reuniting with Sooraj Barjatya after over a decade. That pairing alone carries significant nostalgia value.

What Both Stars Are Up to Before November?

Ayushmann has a packed schedule ahead of this release. His next film, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, is arriving on May 15, 2026. Sharvari, meanwhile, is gearing up for the action film Alpha with Alia Bhatt. So by the time November rolls around, both stars will have already given audiences something new to talk about — making their Rajshri debut all the more anticipated.

Sooraj Barjatya’s last directorial outing, Uunchai, earned him the National Award for Best Director — a reminder that he remains at the very top of his craft. For more Bollywood film updates and announcements, head to TechnoSports Entertainment.
