AYANEO introduces a new series of handheld consoles called “AYANEO AIR 1S,” which are lightweight and performance-efficient. For those who are unaware, AYANEO is a well-established rival in the business, offering a wide selection of handheld gaming devices. This time, the business has released a new lineup that includes the normal AIR 1S as well as a lighter version dubbed “AIR 1S Ultra-Thin & Light,” implying that the company has focused on creating a gadget that “weighs” less and is easier to carry.
To begin with, the AYANEO 1S is powered by the Ryzen 7 7840U Phoenix APU based on Zen4. It has eight cores and sixteen threads and is powered by the latest Radeon 780M iGPU with RDNA 3 architecture. This particular APU is extremely power-efficient, drawing only 15-28W of electricity.
The AYANEO AIR 1S models include LPDDR5X memory, however, the business has not stated the device’s clock speeds or memory options.
With a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 on an AMOLED panel, the AYANEO AIR 1S boasts excellent display quality. It also features a wide color gamut with 99% DCI-P3 coverage, thus there should be no display quality sacrifices in this series. Furthermore, an M.2 SSD slot with support for up to M.2 2280 is an exciting feature of the portable. AYANEO impressed us based on the device’s size and weight.
The weight of the new AYANEO AIR 1S versions is the device’s defining feature. The handheld industry has been successful in incorporating high-tech components into its products, albeit at the expense of greater weight and bulk. However, AYANEO has kept this in mind, and their regular AIR 1S consoles weigh 450g, which is significantly less than the ROG Ally (608g). Furthermore, the “Ultra Thin & Light” edition weighs only 405g but comes at the expense of a smaller battery size.
In terms of pricing, the AYANEO AIR 1S models are now on sale and are advertised on a crowdfunding portal. The consoles start at $899, but you can get one right now for $100 off as a pre-release bonus. Overall, the “AIR 1S” versions are an excellent choice if you want a lightweight gadget to play the latest titles. The device’s performance benchmarks, as well as battery timing, will be decisive; so, you should wait for the console to be reviewed before acquiring one. According to the business, the consoles will be available in stores by early August.
