August’s Most Talked-About K-Pop Idols: The Full Rankings Are Here

The numbers are in, and K-pop‘s brand reputation race just got a fresh shake-up. The Korean Business Research Institute has released its August individual idol brand reputation rankings, and while familiar faces still dominate the top five, one rookie name is quietly stealing the spotlight.

Who’s On Top This Month?

RESCENE’s Woni held onto the number one spot with a brand reputation index of 6,951,891 — a massive 27.93% jump since July. Her keyword analysis skewed heavily positive, with terms like “Pretty Girl,” “likable,” and “sunny” trending, alongside a striking 93.47% positive reaction score.

BTS has topped brand reputation rankings consistently since these charts began in December 2018, and that dominance continues this month: Jimin held steady at second place, Jungkook landed fourth, and five different BTS members appear in the top 18 alone.

How These Rankings Actually Work

The rankings are calculated by analyzing consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness across a massive pool of idols — 1,735 this month alone — using big data gathered over a full month-long window. It’s less a measure of pure popularity and more a snapshot of how much genuine public conversation and engagement an idol is generating at any given time.

BTS holds the record for the most Best Group wins at the MTV Video Music Awards, with four total — a reminder of just how consistently the group commands attention across both fan metrics and mainstream award shows, a trend clearly reflected in this month’s rankings too.

Why RESCENE Is One To Watch

With three members — Woni, Zena, and Minami — all landing in the top 11, RESCENE is emerging as one of the most talked-about rookie groups of the year. Their rapid climb signals a group building serious momentum beyond just their debut buzz.
