ASUS ROG Ally X: A Powerful Handheld Refresh with Upgraded Storage, Memory, and Design

The highly anticipated ASUS ROG Ally X handheld gaming PC has finally had its specs leaked, giving gamers a clearer picture of what to expect from this next-generation device. While initial teasers left us guessing, reliable leaker @MysteryLupin has shed light on the Ally X’s key features.

Built for Power: AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU

The heart of the ROG Ally X lies in the powerful AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). This processor utilizes the same AMD Ryzen Z1 architecture as the original Ally, but it’s the “Extreme” variant, boasting increased performance capabilities. This translates to smoother game play, especially for demanding AAA titles.

Unmatched Storage Capacity: 1TB SSD for All Your Games

One of the most significant upgrades in the Ally X is the massive storage boost. Unlike the base ROG Ally models with 512GB SSD options, the X variant comes standard with a whopping 1TB SSD. This provides ample space for your extensive game library, eliminating storage worries for current and future titles.

Speedy Performance with Upgraded LPDDR5X Memory

The ROG Ally X takes a leap forward in memory technology by featuring LPDDR5X-7500 support. This next-generation memory offers faster data transfer speeds compared to the previous generation, contributing to a more responsive and fluid gaming experience.

Immersive Display: Retaining the 7-inch 120Hz FHD Panel

The ROG Ally X sticks with the proven formula of the original Ally’s display. Gamers can expect a vibrant 7-inch 1080p (Full HD) panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. This combination delivers eye-catching visuals and incredibly responsive game play, perfect for fast-paced action games.

Extended Game play with a 40% Larger Battery

ASUS listened to user feedback and addressed a key concern – battery life. The ROG Ally X boasts a 40% larger battery compared to the original Ally. This translates to longer gaming sessions on a single charge, allowing you to enjoy your favorite titles for extended periods without interruptions.

Sleek Design: A Stylish Black Color Scheme

The ROG Ally X ditches the white color scheme of the original Ally and embraces a more sophisticated black design. This sleek aesthetic enhances the handheld’s overall look and feels, making it a stylish companion for gamers on the go.

Pricing and Availability: A Premium Refresh

While the official release date is yet to be announced, leaks suggest a starting price of $799 for the ROG Ally X. This represents a $100 increase compared to the base ROG Ally model. However, considering the significant storage upgrade, faster memory, and larger battery, the price hike seems reasonable for a refresh that prioritizes enhanced performance and user experience.

Is the ROG Ally X Right for You?

The ROG Ally X caters to gamers seeking a powerful and portable handheld console with ample storage, improved performance, and extended battery life. If you’re looking for a significant upgrade in processing power compared to the original Ally, the X variant might not be a huge leap.

However, if the focus is on storage capacity, faster memory, and a longer play-time, then the ROG Ally X is a undeniable option.

Conclusion: A Well-Rounded Refresh for Portable Gamers

The ASUS ROG Ally X offers a solid and well-rounded refresh to the original Ally. The combination of a powerful processor, massive storage capacity, faster memory, and a larger battery makes it a undeniable choice for gamers looking for a premium on-the-go gaming experience.

With its sleek design and anticipated $799 price tag, the ROG Ally X positions itself as a strong competitor in the handheld gaming market.
