India’s medal charge at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya continued full steam on Day 5, with contingents across shooting, wushu, rowing, and squash adding to the country’s growing haul.

Asian Games 2026: Shooting Delivers Another Bronze

Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal claimed bronze in the mixed team skeet event, marking their second medal of the Games — both had earlier won individual bronze in the men’s and women’s skeet team events. This was also India’s third medal in skeet shooting alone at these Games, underlining the discipline’s strong form this edition.

Wushu And Rowing Add To The Tally

Naorem Roshibina Devi secured silver in the women’s 60kg sanda event after a 0-2 loss to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final — her second consecutive Asian Games silver and third overall medal at the Games. In rowing, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan clinched bronze in the men’s double sculls with a time of 6:13.25, while Ujjwal Kumar Singh and Rohit narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the lightweight men’s double sculls.

Squash Guarantees India A Medal

One of the day’s biggest highlights came from squash, where India secured a guaranteed medal after both Tanvi Khanna and Anahat Singh advanced to the women’s singles quarter-finals. Tanvi rallied from behind to beat Singapore’s Au Yeong Wai Yhann 3-1, while Anahat cruised past Singapore’s Au Yeong Wai Iynn 3-0. Since the two will face each other in the quarter-finals, India is assured of at least one more semifinal spot — and a medal.

Notably, Asian Games singles champions earn a direct quota for the LA 2028 Olympics, putting Anahat within three wins of an Olympic berth.

Fencing Pioneer Bhavani Devi Exits After Strong Run

Olympian Bhavani Devi, India’s first fencing Olympian, made it to the women’s sabre Round of 16 after a hard-fought pool stage, defeating Mongolia’s Oulen Tugsjargal 15-8 in the Round of 32. She was eventually eliminated 15-5 by China’s Rao Xueyi, a 2026 Worlds silver medallist.

Where India Stands Overall?

With these results, India’s overall medal count rose to 15 — one gold, six silver, and eight bronze — as the country continues its 20th consecutive Asian Games appearance since debuting in 1951. With squash guaranteeing another medal and several athletes still in contention across athletics, table tennis, and canoe sprint, India’s tally is expected to keep climbing in the coming days.
