We really didn’t expect Erling Haaland to be the subject of transfer speculation this soon. But, such is the case that the topic must be revisited after the race in the summer.
His suitors are seventh-tier Ashton United, who have made an official 28-day loan bid for the striker, in an attempt to keep him fit since he won’t be playing the World Cup, after Norway failed to qualify for the tournament.
Erling Haaland to Ashton United – A surprise transfer in the making?
Manager Michael Clegg explained: “It just makes sense. City aren’t playing, and we want to help by keeping Erling fit, it makes more sense than him playing golf for six weeks.
“We think he will be a great fit for us, and would slot in with our squad dynamic really well.”
Ashton United confirmed their interest in Erling Haaland in an official statement, but their site has crashed due to the influx of traffic. Haaland was expected to be away from England during the World Cup break. But, a short-term loan deal would allow him the opportunity to maintain his rhythm and continue to be at peak form when the Premier League resumes after the tournament in Qatar.
It now remains to be seen whether Manchester City will even entertain such a transfer, or if they will actually surprise the world by accepting.
