Ashish Chanchlani Returns With ‘Ekaki’ Web Series After Controversy, Promises a Chilling Ride

Ashish Chanchlani, one of India’s most celebrated digital entertainers, is ready to bounce back after facing significant public scrutiny. He has unveiled his next big project, Ekaki, following the controversy linked to his appearance on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent.

Ekaki is a spine-tingling web series that also serves as his comeback vehicle. This multi-genre series marks his return to storytelling and showcases his commitment to evolving as a creator.

Instagram Revelation Sparks Buzz

Ashish made the big reveal on Wednesday through an Instagram post featuring a collection of ominous promotional posters. Accompanied by the caption, “We wholeheartedly invite you for the chilliest trip of the year.

Bas yaad rakhna … EKAKI mein reh kar bhi … aap kabhi akele nahi rahenge,” the post generated massive attention from fans and industry peers alike. This announcement comes as the first major update from Chanchlani following the backlash he faced earlier this year.

A Glimpse Into ‘Ekaki’

The visuals in the promotional material provide intriguing clues about the series’ tone. One particular poster stands out—depicting Ashish gripping a lantern, surrounded by eerie, ghostlike hands creeping from the darkness. This disturbing yet artistic imagery points to a horror-laced narrative, potentially exploring themes of fear, isolation, and survival.

Joining Ashish in this eerie tale are familiar faces from the digital entertainment space: Akash Dodeja, Harshh Rane, Sidhant Sarfare, Rohit Sadhwani, Shashank Shekhar, and Grishim Nawanii. Their inclusion indicates a blend of familiarity and novelty in storytelling, aiming to strike a chord with Chanchlani’s loyal audience.

Horror Meets Humor: A Genre Blend

Breaking away from the traditional format of horror, Ekaki also infuses comedy into its core. This hybrid genre approach not only highlights Ashish’s creative daring but also ensures a rollercoaster of emotions for the viewers. From bone-chilling suspense to bursts of comic relief, Ekaki promises to be a unique addition to the Indian web content scene.

More significantly, Ashish is deeply involved in every creative aspect of the show. As the writer, director, actor, and producer, he is steering the ship with complete artistic control. The series will premiere on his YouTube platform under the ACV Studios banner, offering fans free access to the show and reaffirming his commitment to digital storytelling.

Backdrop of the Controversy

Earlier this year, Ashish became embroiled in a public controversy stemming from his participation in a segment of India’s Got Latent, hosted by Samay Raina. The issue arose when Ranveer Allahbadia posed an offensive hypothetical question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”

While the panel and audience initially responded with laughter, public reaction was far from amused. Outrage from netizens and political figures alike led to FIRs being filed against several participants, including Ashish, Ranveer, Samay, and Apoorva Mukhija. Ashish later appeared before Assam Police in February to give his statement and, in March, faced the National Commission for Women as part of the ongoing probe.

Ashish’s Vulnerable Appeal to Fans

In March, amidst the media storm and public backlash, Ashish released a moving video message on Instagram. Addressing his fans directly, he said: “Hello doston, kaise ho aap log? I know, aapke messages padhe maine, chal raha hai. Maine socha story pe aapse baat karlun lekin ab samajh nahi aa raha kya kahun. Lad lenge situation se, dekhe hain aise tough times, isse bhi kuch naya seekh lenge.” This heartfelt appeal served as a rare glimpse into the emotional toll the controversy had taken on him and his family.

With Ekaki, Ashish Chanchlani is not just launching a web series; he’s staging a redemptive comeback. The project signals a shift—both in tone and direction—for the YouTuber, who now appears more focused on nuanced, genre-defying content. As audiences await the first episode’s release on ACV Studios’ YouTube channel, one thing is certain: Ashish is determined to turn the page, ready to redefine his digital legacy with courage, creativity, and a touch of chill.
