Arvind Swami: Story

What Arvind Swami Said?

The buzz began when Bethlehem Kudumba Unit featured Yavanakathayil Ninnu, a song that went viral online and is reportedly from the unreleased Anna. Fans quickly recalled that the film had long been rumoured to star Arvind Swami. Speaking on the Truly Ram podcast, the actor said he never signed any project with that title and hadn’t even heard its story. He also said he doesn’t know who approached the film’s producers, and suggested that his name may have been used while someone else was being approached.

How the Confusion Began?

Arvind offered a fascinating explanation rooted in 1990s film culture. During the music industry’s boom, production houses often recorded and released audio cassettes before finalising scripts or getting formal commitments from lead actors. That practice, he suggested, could have created a misunderstanding that lingered for 31 years. It’s a reminder of how differently films were launched back then.

The Lost Screenplay

The mystery runs deeper than a name. After writer N. Mohanan passed away in October 1999, his close friends tried to find the manuscript. They learned that a well-known assistant director had borrowed it, but he died in an accident soon after, and the pages were never recovered despite his family’s search. Interestingly, Pulimurugan producer Tomichan Mulakuppadam says he has bought the film’s rights and has hinted that the project could be revived someday.

What’s Next for Arvind Swami?

The actor was last seen in the silent film Gandhi Talks, alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Aditi Rao Hydari. Next, he is expected to play the main antagonist in Monster, starring Salman Khan and directed by Vamshi Paidipally.
