The Bastion stands as one of Arc Raiders’ most intimidating mechanical adversaries—a heavily armored war machine that shreds unprepared raiders with relentless minigun fire. While its slow movement speed offers tactical advantages, the thick armor plating transforms every encounter into a high-stakes chess match. The payoff? Premium crafting materials that make the risk worthwhile.

Arc Raiders Understanding Your Enemy: Bastion Breakdown

Attribute	Details
Armor Type	Heavy frontal plating (nearly impenetrable)
Primary Weakness	Yellow rear plate (critical damage zone)
Secondary Weakness	Kneecaps (mobility disruption)
Movement Speed	Slow (exploitable for positioning)
Threat Level	Extreme at close-medium range

The Winning Strategy: Attack from Above

Frontal assaults against Bastion result in quick deaths. The key? Never engage face-to-face. Circle around to target the small yellow rear plate that becomes visible when it rotates. This weak point takes massive damage from medium to heavy ammunition.

The game-changing tactic involves elevation advantage. Lure the Bastion beneath rooftops or elevated platforms where you can rain grenades and bullets down safely. This positioning provides natural cover while exposing its vulnerable top sections. Squad coordination amplifies this strategy—one player distracts while others flank.

Target the kneecaps if the rear plate isn’t accessible. While less effective than back attacks, leg damage significantly reduces its mobility, making positioning easier for your squad.

Optimal Beginner Loadout

Weapon/Item	Role	Key Advantage
Ferro	Primary shotgun	High damage, easy crafting/upgrades
Torrente	Secondary LMG	Large magazine for sustained fire (crouch for accuracy)
Arpeggio	Alternative secondary	Higher DPS, better accuracy, smaller mag
Wolfpack/Heavy Fuse Grenade	Explosive damage	Safe distance engagement
Blaze Grenade	Area denial	Controls Bastion movement
Lure Grenade	Optional distraction	Creates positioning opportunities

The Ferro delivers devastating close-range punishment but suffers from brutal reload times—pair it with the Torrente’s continuous fire to maintain pressure. If you’ve unlocked advanced weapons like Bettina or Vulcano, prioritize those instead for superior performance.

Grenades aren’t mandatory but dramatically improve survival rates. Wolfpack and Heavy Fuse grenades deal exceptional damage from safe distances, especially when fighting solo.

Victory Spoils: Bastion Loot Table

Defeated Bastions drop high-tier crafting materials:

ARC Alloy, Powercells (standard and advanced)
ARC Motion Core and Circuitry
Medium Gun Parts and Mechanical Components
Exclusive Bastion Cell component
Medium Ammo stockpiles

These materials fuel weapon upgrades and advanced crafting recipes, making Bastion farming essential for endgame progression.

Pro Combat Tips

Always bring squadmates when hunting Bastions. Solo encounters are possible but dramatically riskier. Coordinate flanking maneuvers where one player draws fire while others shred the rear plate.

Scout areas before engagement—identify elevated positions, cover spots, and escape routes. Preparation separates successful raids from respawn screens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I defeat a Bastion solo as a beginner, or do I need a full squad?

A: Solo Bastion kills are achievable with proper loadout and positioning, especially using the elevated attack strategy. However, squads make encounters significantly safer and faster by dividing aggro and concentrating fire on weak points simultaneously.

Q: What’s the minimum weapon tier needed to effectively damage a Bastion’s weak points?

A: Medium ammo weapons (like Torrente) work well from early game. The Ferro shotgun, craftable early, delivers excellent damage. Focus on positioning and weak point accuracy rather than weapon tier—strategy outweighs raw firepower against Bastions.
