Apple’s A15 Bionic will have a 6-core CPU but TSMC’s enhanced 5nm architecture

Apple is expected to launch its new iPhone 13 in the third week of September and along with the device, we will witness the launch of Apple’s new A15 Bionic. Currently, the fastest smartphone processor chip is Apple’s very own A14 Bionic.

Its well knew that in the new chip Apple will use the advanced manufacturing process to improve performance and power efficiency. However, it’s also true that some areas of the chipset will also remain the same, and that is the total CPU core count.

However, it’s not much of a deal, since the launch of the first release of the A-series chips for the iPhone the core count has remained the same. Since the time of A11 Bionic in 2017, the chips have always had a 6-core CPU count, and it will be the same with A15 Bionic. But, the most interesting thing to look forward to the release of A15 Bionic is that it will be made using TSMC’s N5P node.

Apple had mas produced the A14 Bionic on TSMC’s 5nm architecture, but the upcoming node from TSMC will be an enhanced version and will result in slight performance and power efficiency improvements from the previous tech. previously there were speculations that Apple might use TSMC’s 4nm architecture however, those expectations got buried pretty fast.

Coming to the CPU configuration of A15 Bionic, it likely comprises two performance cores, and will have four power-efficient cores. It speculated that Apple will be targeting battery life with this chip. And like its predecessors, the new SoC will obtain higher single and multi-core numbers than the competition, that is a fact. The Snapdragon 895’s performance was recently leaked, and it came darn close to beating the A14 Bionic, however, with the release of Apple’s A15 Bionic we can expect the gap to further even more
