Chinese display maker BOE has signed a deal with Apple for the production of the display of the iPhone 14. The deal is worth 50 million Yuan or $7.75 million and will result in BOE making nearly a quarter of the OLED displays for the iPhone 14. BOE is the leading maker of OLEDs in China and is second to Samsung globally.

BOE will make the 6.1″ panels that will be featured on the vanilla iPhone 14 models. The higher models from the Series will not have these displays, the displays for those models will be made by LG and Samsung.

This deal is a boon for BOE as it is partnering up with Apple for the first time, BOE, however, has already maintained a relationship with Apple for producing its replacement versions of the current models and panels for older iPhones.

BOE has reportedly made inroads into the iPad and MacBook production with reports that it will supply OLED panels for next-gen iPads and MacBooks. The latest partnership will result in BOE expanding its production in its Sichuan plant to meet the demands as well as upgrading the equipment with the necessary power requirements.

BOE has performed well in developing and making OLED panels within the last year alone. It witnessed a 60% increase in OLED production which cemented its position in the market.
