Apple to launch its M3 MacBook Air and M3 iMac in October 2023

At its WWDC 2023 event, Apple recently unveiled the new 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 processor. The tech community has given the device favorable ratings. The MacBook Air has the same outside appearance as the 13.6-inch model, but it has a larger chassis and display. Additionally, it has a larger battery but produces the same amount of power as its smaller version.

According to current expectations, the business will shortly equip the machines with a potent M3 chip based on TSMC’s 3nm process. According to a recent source, Apple will introduce the M3 CPU alongside the MacBook Air and iMac later this year.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are scheduled to be released by Apple in September, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in his most recent Power On newsletter. The analyst assumes that the business will also host another event in October.

The release of new Mac and iPad models is often announced at a separate event by Apple.

This suggests that the business may introduce M3 Macs this year rather than in 2024. The 13.3-inch MacBook Pro, the 24-inch iMac, and the smaller 13.6-inch MacBook Air, according to Gurman, would all receive updates from the business.

It is very improbable that the business will introduce another model with an M3 chip given that the 15-inch MacBook Air was just launched. The M2 chip-equipped smaller edition was introduced last year, and an upgrade is overdue. This suggests that the business may replace the 15-inch model with an M3 chip at some point in 2019, possibly at the Spring event, to simplify the portfolio.

The 24-inch iMac, along with the smaller MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, will adopt the M3 processor instead of the M2 one. The more expensive 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, on the other hand, won’t be switched over to the M3 series of CPUs just yet. Before the ‘Pro’ and ‘Max’ variations of the chips are ready for the higher-end models, Apple’s M-series chip often debuts on the MacBook Air and other devices.

Gurman points out that the M3 Pro and M3 Max CPUs will be included in Apple’s 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models the following year.

On all Macs, the M3 chip will result in considerable speed and battery life improvements. The chip is made using TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process, which offers superior computational and graphics capabilities. The business revealed during its WWDC presentation that Apple is aiming to bring popular gaming franchises to the platform, and the chip may make for an excellent playing field.
