Apple looking to launch a new Hardware Subscription model for its iPhones and iPads

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that the upcoming iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max could feature the last-gen A15 Bionic chip, for now, new information has surfaced which has further backed up this information along with some additional details.

Apart from Kuo, other noted sources such as Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman have also backed up this claim, if it is indeed true, this would mark the first time that the Cupertino-based company has divided its iPhone lineup’s chips since the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

The former featured the A7 while the latter came with the A6 chip. As per a report from iDrop News, the iPhone 14 Series will also be receiving a similar treatment this time around. The brand will be reusing the A15 Bionic chip that was on the iPhone 13 Series for the base iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max model this year.

In order to avoid some backlash, the company will be rebranding the new chip to the A16, to keep it in accordance with its typical annual chip refresh cycle. The new chip on the contrary will be labeled as the A16 Pro, which will likely be reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

This move is likely to allow Apple to cut down on costs, with the mini version being discontinued. The lineup will begin at $799 or 60,959 INR. The Max version on the other hand will retail for $100 more, in other words, the company would still be able to maintain its usual $200 price difference between its Pro and non-Pro models.
