Rumor: Apple is Developing Custom Batteries For Mobile Devices to Launch in 2025

In order to develop technologies internally that it may utilize for upcoming products, Apple is developing custom batteries. As we’ve already mentioned, the business is developing its own proprietary modems to lessen its reliance on Qualcomm.

Furthermore, the organization is developing micro-LED display technology, which will make its debut on the Apple Watch between 2025 and 2027. There have been rumors circulating that Apple is working on next-generation batteries, which may be found in iPhones after 2025.

It’s said that Apple has been developing its own battery technology since 2018, vigorously applying for patents and recruiting additional staff members for the project. According to reports, the corporation wants to get actively involved in the utilization of materials to produce an “all-new” sort of battery with far better performance.

In order to assess the battery’s performance, energy density, output, and stability, Apple appears to be carefully selecting the cathode materials. It appears that the battery has a totally different composition than those that are now available on the market, using a new combination of aluminum, nickel, cobalt, and manganese.

This should all still be viewed as a medium- to long-term objective for the time being. The new Apple batteries won’t be available in end-user goods until 2025 or later, according to the ET News story.

On a somewhat related topic, it was earlier stated that Apple created a special battery for the Apple Car electric car project. Of course, this hasn’t happened in any way.

As part of its environmental commitments, Apple said earlier this year that by 2025, all “Apple-designed” batteries would use 100% recycled cobalt.
