Some Apple users iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are reporting horizontal lines flashing over their iPhone display when the device is turned on, with no explanation or way to correct it.
On one Reddit thread, several of iPhone 14 Pro users report that when the smartphone is turned on, one or more green and yellow lines may flash over the screen before disappearing a few seconds later.
Apple Support advised them that the problem is not due to a hardware malfunction, but rather to a flaw in iOS 16.
The issue appears to have started with the iOS 16.2 update, according to users on Reddit, the Apple Support forums (1,2,3), and the MacRumors forum, while other users claim the problem appearing on prior versions of iOS 16. According to one Reddit user, an Apple employee told them over the phone that Apple is working on a software patch to fix the problem, but the particular details are unknown.
Apple is now testing iOS 16.3 with developers and public beta testers, but the update won’t be available until early next year. iOS 16.2 is the most recent version of iOS 16, and it includes various new features such as Apple Music Sing, Apple’s new Freeform app, and more.
