The WWDC 2022 was full of exciting announcements and some surprises, and when Apple unveiled iOS 16, one of the coolest things the firm stated was that the popular Fitness app would be going independent for the first time. For those who don’t know, to fully enjoy the Fitness app in the past, you needed an Apple Watch. This is no longer necessary, as the app will be featured on every iPhone with iOS 16 and customers will be able to use it without an Apple Watch nearby.

Of course, the support will not be as good as it is when using the Fitness app on an iPhone, but it will suffice. For those who are curious, the app will measure things like steps using your iPhone’s motion sensors, which is a feature we’ve seen in a lot of phones in the past. Everything that your iPhone records can be used to close your rigs, which is a significant move for the app.

Apple is reading iOS 16 as a huge update with a lot of new features

Apple’s choice to separate the Fitness app from the rest of the App Store is a positive step forward. However, the firm hasn’t forgotten about the utility of an Apple Watch, which will undoubtedly provide you with a more comprehensive experience. If you only require basic tracking, the software and your iPhone are both up to the task.
