Apple Delays on updates for iOS 18 and macOS 15 in order to Clean Up Bugs

According to Mark Gurman’s story for Bloomberg, Apple has temporarily stopped development on iOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, and tvOS 18. The software team had to fix flaws in the software for the current generation of iPhones, iPads, wearables, TVs, and Macs, so they had to postpone work.

Cupertino staff members were told to cease developing on next iterations, forcing engineers to redirect their attention into resolving problems and enhancing software efficiency.

In order to give developers a week to focus exclusively on refining the current product, all work on upcoming enhancements was put on hold. For the purpose of continuing development on new features for iOS 18 and its sibling releases, Apple is lifting the hold this week.

Last month, iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 saw the completion of their initial “M1” releases by Apple. Additionally, Apple put a temporary halt to work on iOS 17.4, which is scheduled for release in March of next year, and postponed further development. Not many release delays are anticipated in the upcoming year, since development on future products was only put on hold for a week.
