Apple buys Scout FM to nudge its rival Spotify

The Cupertino giant has acquired a startup that creates radio-like stations for podcasts

Apple, with its massive range of products, looks to expand its ecosystem with its software by introducing various subscription-based products like Fitness+, Apple One program comprising of services like Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and others. So, the point is Apple wants to get into everything to make its services richer and leave no competitors.

Epic Games have sued the trillion-dollar company, got into an argument with major devs like Spotify, and the things will eventually get even worse with Spotify. Apple wants to leave no competition and make its Music app better than its competitor, so they have acquired Scout FM.

Podcasts have become a refreshing move towards entertainment, and Spotify has been revolutionizing with its massive content; Apple has understood this. So, acquiring a startup that makes listening to podcasts more like tuning into radio stations will ultimately make its services even better and drive people to subscribe to Apple’s bunch of premium services.

Based on your listening history, input preferences, and suggestions, Scout FM automatically created podcast stations, helping people to listen to what they want. It was even popular among Apple devices as it could be integrated with CarPlay, supported both Apple’s Siri and Amazon.com Inc.’s Alexa voice assistants.

As Bloomberg says, Apple is planning to create original podcasts that tie into Apple TV+, and with the deal for Scout FM, the company wants to bring a breath of fresh air to all the podcasts lovers out there.
