Making its way in 2019, Respawn & EA’s battle royale game Apex Legends made huge popularity in its short span of time. But these days every major battle royale games are available on smartphones as well including PUBG, Call of Duty and Fortnite, so why should EA fall out?
Apex Legends had a surprise announcement and release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC and the mobile version of it is something which EA was contemplating to bring back in February last year. Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, had a Fireside Chat and verified that Apex Legends for mobile will be launching this year as a soft launch.
Throughout the chat, Andrew Wilson commented that EA has Plants Vs. Zombie 3 in soft launch already. It will be intriguing to see what EA brings to mobile barring that and Apex Legends with many of its games going to Nintendo Switch. Making a game free to play has worked for almost all gaming companies provided you get a large number of gamers, so naturally, for smartphones, EA will surely get more users than expected if they properly optimize it for smartphones.
Apex Legends is still very popular on console and PC platforms with both Steam and Nintendo Switch versions planned for this Fall. It will be intriguing to see if finally, we will be able to play Apex Legends on mobile that too without any hiccups.
It’s possible that Apex Legends on iOS and Android will possess its own player pool such as PUBG Mobile instead of the way Fortnite is cross-platform on all systems. How excited are you to see Apex Legends running on your smartphone? Tell us in the comments below… 😉
