Ansu Fati sidelined for 3 months at worst with latest injury

Ansu Fati is one of Barcelona’s brightest players for the future, but his progress is being hampered by injuries. The La Masia academy graduate suffered yet another injury in his hamstring. As a result, he was forced off the pitch in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey exit against Athletic Club.

The youngster spent 11 months sidelined after suffering a meniscus injury in November 2020, which required surgery. The player returned to action this season, and scored in his first game back against Levante.

Ansu Fati to be out for three months at worst

The Barcelona starlet looked very upset as he came off the pitch in extra time. While Barcelona have confirmed that he has suffered a tendon injury of his left hamstring, the extent of his absence has not been confirmed as of yet.

According to Diario AS, Barcelona are weighing up the pros and cons of the player undergoing surgery. If he goes under the knife, he will be out for at least three months. On the other hand, no surgery would mean an absence of 6-8 weeks.

Xavi has mentioned that the club will get together with Ansu Fati’s family to prepare a plan so that he is protected from injuries in the future.

Barcelona’s youngest ever goalscorer at Camp Nou has only made 10 appearances across all competitions this season. And with the negative turn that things have taken, there is a slim chance we will see him again before the season is over.
