Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos’ houses were robbed during the Nantes game

PSG forward Angel Di Maria’s house was reportedly robbed by armed burglars yesterday, in the middle of their match against Nantes yesterday. The player was brought off at the hour mark due to the situation at his home and left the Parc de Princes stadium quickly after being substituted.

While his family was not harmed, they were held hostage while expensive goods from the player’s house were stolen. Sporting Director Leonardo was seen talking on the phone before the substitution took place, and he shouted to Mauricio Pochettino from the stands.

As the substitution took place, Pochettino walked with Di Maria to the changing room, having a conversation with the player all the while and came out alone afterwards. Di Maria was seen to be leaving the scene in tears following the news that his home had been robbed while his family was held hostage.

Brazilian defender Marquinhos’ house was also burgled during the match, and the player has released a statement that reads:

“The business representatives of PSG and Brazil’s Marquinhos can confirm that during the match against Nantes, his parents’ home was burgled while his parents were present in the residence but nobody was hurt and everyone is doing well, it was more fear than anything bad. The French authorities have opened an investigation.”

Di Maria went through a similar situation whilst playing for Manchester United in 2015, wherein his mansion in Cheshire was broken into by three robbers while the player was having dinner with his wife and daughter.

Paris will be fully supporting both their players during the difficult time, and will be expecting the police to do their best to try and punish those guilty.
