While AMD has officially unveiled its new AMD Ryzen 7040U series processors today, with low 15-25W TDP, showing a lot of promise and performance bump for low profile laptops. AMD’s main competition is obviously Intel whereas now Apple is also a serious threat to the silicon giant.

AMD is so confident this time that apart from sharing the normal slides featuring the specs of these new AMD Ryzen 7040U series processors, the Red team didn’t hide its performance against both Intel and Apple. In this slide as you see, the high-end Ryzen 7 7840U with 8 Zen 4 cores and 16 threads, clock speed of up to 5.1 GHz and Radeon 780M iGPU, it single-handedly destroys Intel Core i7-1360P.

In gaming, the AMD’s iGPU has significant performance difference that goes up to 239% better than the Intel competition in a heavy game like Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p resolution.

In terms of application performance, AMD wins further against Intel massively because of the Radeon 780M iGPU here and considering the fact that all of these AMD chips have some kind of RDNA3 graphics, expect far better overall performance than others. Though AMD didn’t show competition against Intel in Geekbench or any but it should be very close.

However, thanks to 5nm based Zen 4 architecture, these new AMD Ryzen 7040U series processors have an edge over Intel’s 13th Gen Core U or P series chips. Alongside these impressive features, the Ryzen 7040U APUs also integrate the Ryzen AI XDNA cores, further enhancing the overall performance and efficiency of these processors.

AMD also took to stage to showcase the performance against Apple’s M2 chipset and they look impressive as well, because when it comes to raw CPU numbers AMD beats Apple with thin margin but when it comes to heavy tasks or multi-processing, the Red team has a greater edge over Apple.

While numbers are just a way of showing off but still AMD is positive with its Ryzen 7040U series and looks to bounce back with its powerful yet efficienct new processors.
