AMD’s new Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards are now available for pre-order in China, and it appears that custom cards will be just as pricey as NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 series. According to ITHome, pre-sale activities for the custom AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX & RX 7900 XT graphics cards have begun in China on popular platforms such as Taobao. One such seller has published the costs of the PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards as well as other products.
While these are pre-order prices, other outlets have reported nearly identical results. According to some rumours, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT supply will be extremely limited in China, but there are also speculations that the Chinese markets will only receive AIB cards after launch, while other areas will receive reference models as well as custom designs. Sapphire and PowerColor are attempting to offer Asian regions with unique designs at the time of launch (December 13th), but how well it goes remains to be seen.
In terms of pricing, the PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Red Devil costs $1622 USD, which is a $622 USD premium over the reference model and a $230 USD premium over the Hellhound variation. In terms of pricing, that is extremely high.
Even at a $393 US premium above the basic model, the Hellhound will be a significant price difference to pay. The RX 7900 XT Hellhound costs $1236 USD, which is a $300 USD premium above the $899 USD MSRP. Additional taxes are added to the price on the Chinese market, thus that should be addressed here as well.
Given the scarcity of reference models in the Asian market, some merchants have even listed the cards at prices higher than the custom models. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX is advertised for 12999 RMB ($1850 US) and the 7900 XT is available for 999 RMB ($1425 US) at one retailer.
Previously, there were reports that AMD RDNA 3 supply will be comparable to or better than NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series cards, however it appears that this may not be the case for all markets around the world. AMD Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards will be available two weeks later for $999 and $899, respectively.
