Amazon has launched a new version of its Kindle Paperwhite in India, touting it as the fastest and most powerful model to date. The enhanced e-reader was first released in a few international markets in October 2024 and has just launched on Amazon.in for ₹16,999. It offers several improvements, including a bigger display, a more refined design, and better performance.
But there is no confirmation as to whether other Kindle e-readers, such as the new entry-level Kindle, Kindle Scribe, or Kindle Colorsoft, will make it to India.

According to Dilip R S, Director and Country Manager of Amazon Devices India, the Kindle Paperwhite has long been a favorite among Indian readers, and the new version offers features customers are sure to appreciate. The new Kindle Paperwhite has a 7-inch, 300 ppi display with twice as many pixels as the previous model, which means the Kindle can provide 30% more words per page for easy reading in any light.
It has an adjustable warm light and dark mode for reading comfort under all lighting conditions. Thanks to a redesigned, thinner shell, it’s also the thinnest and lightest Paperwhite yet, and easy to hold in one hand. It has the same 12 weeks of battery life on a full charge and now charges via a USB-C port for faster and more convenient recharging. The new Paperwhite is designed for a variety of reading experiences, with 16GB of internal storage and a waterproof build.
It also comes with handy tools like X-Ray to have a peek at character and location info, Word Wise for kids to easily understand words, and a built-in dictionary with translation support. Readers can access over 1.5 crore eBooks through the Kindle Store, including content in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, and more. Kindle Unlimited members can enjoy over 20 lakh titles, while Amazon Prime users get complimentary access to a rotating selection of eBooks.
