Alpha OTT Release Date: When Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Spy Thriller Comes to Netflix

Alpha OTT Release Date: The YRF Spy Universe’s first female-led chapter is in theatres now — here’s when it arrives on Netflix.

Bollywood’s most ambitious spy franchise just got a powerful new chapter. Alpha, the seventh installment of the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe, arrived in theatres on July 3, 2026 — making history as the first female-led entry in a franchise that has previously given us Pathaan, Tiger, and War. If you missed it on the big screen and are wondering about the Alpha OTT release date, here’s your complete guide.

Alpha — Quick Info

What Is Alpha About?

Alpha centres on a highly trained assassin raised in total isolation, moulded into a super-soldier by a rogue commander. When she uncovers the dark truth about her stolen childhood and the family she never knew, she teams up with her long-lost sister to dismantle the very programme that created her.

The film received a UA 16+ certificate with a total runtime of 140 minutes, and features high-budget combat sequences, elaborate choreography, and gravity-defying stunts laced with CGI. What sets it apart, however, is seeing two women command action at this scale in mainstream Bollywood — something that critics acknowledged even amidst mixed reviews.

When Is the Alpha OTT Release Date on Netflix?

It is confirmed that Alpha will stream on Netflix, which has bagged its post-theatrical OTT rights for a significant sum.

No exact streaming date has been announced yet. Since Hindi movies typically premiere on OTT around eight weeks after theatrical release, Alpha is expected to arrive on Netflix in late August 2026.

It’s worth noting that earlier this year, reports claimed that YRF was considering skipping theatres and opting for a direct OTT premiere after allegedly receiving a lucrative digital offer — but the production house strongly denied those rumours and confirmed Alpha was always intended for a theatrical release.

Why This Film Matters

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari were cast in the lead roles back in July 2023, with Bobby Deol joining as the antagonist in March 2024 and Anil Kapoor reprising his role from War 2. Add a John Wick trainer for action prep, filming locations across Mumbai, Kashmir, and Spain, and a Hrithik Roshan cameo — and you have a film built with real ambition.

Whether it fully delivers or not, Alpha marks a genuine shift in how big-budget Indian spy cinema is being made and who gets to lead it.
