Allegri confirms Alvaro Morata to stay at Juventus amidst Barca rumours

Juventus manager Max Allegri has ruled out the possibility of Alvaro Morata leaving the club in the January transfer window. The Spain international has been linked with a switch to Barcelona recently.

Xavi was reportedly in personal contact with the player to try and convince him to return to La Liga. However, it now seems like there is no scope for a return until the end of the season.

Max Allegri: Alvaro Morata to stay at Juventus

“Alvaro Morata is going nowhere,” Allegri told reporters. “Last year he scored 21 goals. This year he’s scored seven without taking penalties or free-kicks – in his role, he is very important.

“I’ve spoken to him and told him he’s not leaving, whether the transfer talk is true or not because to improve on Morata, you need to replace him with one of the four or five best forwards out there. So, Alvaro is staying and he’s happy to do so,” the boss affirmed.

Alongside the high praise for the forward, Allegri also confirmed that Juventus would need a quality replacement if they are to part ways with the Spaniard. Former Inter Milan and current PSG striker Mauro Icardi has been linked with Juventus as the replacement for Alvaro Morata.

But, no contact has been made between the two clubs for the Argentinian. Allegri also ruled out any transfers for the Bianconeri in the winter window. The Italian manager only confirmed Aaron Ramsey’s departure from the club by the end of the month.
