In our daily lives, we come across several marketing advertisements that make us stand still and be amazed like Alienware did. Although it’s just their technique of gaining attention, thinking outside the box at such a level is really tough. But Alienware has done it, and very amazingly while at it.

In such cases, we can add one more name: Alienware, a tech company that has created a gigantic keyboard and a mouse. And it’s for real, which means it is not just a showpiece to display, but people can actually use it.

Also, it took the initiative to prove the functionality of its huge keyboard and mouse. Alienware asked its “Team Liquid” DOTA 2 esports to play some games and matches against an actual person.

How Alienware Made It

After hearing about Alienware’s gigantic massive mechanical keyboard and mouse everyone must be wondering. How did they really do it? Well, it is not easy as it seems and there is a lot of hard work as well as brainstorming behind this project.

The idea to build a monster-sized keyboard and mouse was of such proportion was adopted by a simple thought experiment. The question was “What if we took the exact 3D–scanned proportions of an AW420K keyboard and AW720M mouse and multiplied them by a factor of 14″.

The answer, as you can guess was something enormous, that no one had earlier heard of, made, or presented. Getting an idea for the project was easy and simple, but not the process.

Now the team has to juggle with the question, “How to do it?” From 3D printers to materials to build such huge machines, everything needed a lot of brainwork and hard work.

The team used PVC pipes, and rubber bands for resistance rather than a traditional spring. To make the “click” at the bottom a small piece of metal tape was added. A total of 86 specimens were recreated and they have RGB backlit as well.

Now to see whether Alienware has failed or succeeded in this project, they have invited the “Team Liquid”. The team was unaware of the task that they had to do until the last moments. And when they entered the room they were overwhelmed by the scene ahead of them.

Nevertheless, both the team and the gigantic machines worked well and made the project a success. As expected Alienware did something that was so unconventional and unique.
