Alexis Sánchez, one of the most decorated forwards of his generation, has agreed a two-year deal with CF Montréal, arriving on a free transfer following the end of his single season at Sevilla.
The Move — Here We Go
CF Montréal have agreed a deal to sign Alexis Sánchez on a free transfer, with the former Sevilla striker joining on a two-year contract, with all documents in place.

CF Montréal confirmed the signing of the forward as a free agent, with the Chilean icon under contract through the 2027 Sprint Season, with an option for 2027–28.
Sánchez will be a Designated Player for Montréal. CF Montréal previously had no players occupying DP slots on their roster, and teams in MLS are allowed a maximum of three.
The teaser for the signing was impossible to miss. The club released a teaser video for a new No. 10 signing, in which managing director Luca Saputo says “he wants Alexis, No. 10” in reference to his kit.
Sánchez in His Own Words
“I am very happy to join CF Montréal and take on this new challenge,” said Sánchez. “I’m grateful to the club for the confidence they’ve shown in me, and I’m eager to put my experience to work so that we can reach our objectives and create memorable moments for our supporters. I’m here to give everything I have for the club and for this city.”
One Season at Sevilla — The Numbers
Sánchez spent a single season at Sevilla, making 30 appearances during the 2025–26 campaign. The 37-year-old spent the 2025/26 campaign in Spain after joining Sevilla as a free agent.
In the 2025/26 LaLiga season, Alexis Sánchez recorded 4 goals, 2 assists, 1,298 minutes, an average FotMob rating of 6.67, and 3 yellow cards.
Sánchez took 25 shots in 27 La Liga matches, with 11 on target and 14 off, producing a shooting accuracy of 44%. His goals scored per 90 minutes stood at 0.28.
Sánchez finished the season as Sevilla’s 3rd-highest scorer in the squad’s Top Scorers list — a respectable return for a 37-year-old carrying the No. 10 shirt at an Andalusian giant.

A Career Built on Records — The Big Numbers
Few players in world football can point to a career resumé that matches Sánchez’s for both breadth and depth. He has tallied 215 goals and 154 assists in 788 games and won 20 trophies at club level.
Internationally, Sánchez’s 168 caps and 51 goals are both records for Chile. He featured at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups and is a two-time Copa América champion (2015 and 2016).

Sánchez spent the past 18 seasons in Europe after emerging at South American sides Cobreloa, Colo-Colo, and River Plate.
His 26 career titles include Serie A medals (2020/21, 2023/24), Supercoppas, a Coppa Italia, Copa América titles (2015, 2016), FA Cups, the Premier League Asia Trophy, Community Shields with Arsenal, La Liga, Copa del Rey, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Supercopa de España with Barcelona, and the Liga Profesional with River Plate.

What Sánchez Brings to CF Montréal
At 37, El Niño Maravilla is not arriving in MLS as a farewell lap. He is arriving as a Designated Player — a deliberate, significant investment by the club’s leadership. He has long been one of the top wingers in the world and, despite being 37 years old, still has some gas left in the tank.
Sánchez, who helped push La Roja to the 2015 Copa América and 2016 Copa América Centenario crowns and also won La Liga with FC Barcelona, will now occupy a Designated Player spot — the roster slots that allow MLS teams to pay players without the salary charge fully counting against the cap.

His arrival also carries extra continental flavour for Canadian supporters. Chile will play a friendly in Toronto on September 26, meaning Sánchez could play twice at BMO Field in the span of just three weeks — CF Montréal also visit their rivals on October 10.
