Tamil cinema’s rumor mill is buzzing again, and this time it’s about Thala Ajith Kumar’s much-awaited AK64. Reports suggest actress Kayadu Lohar might be stepping in as co-lead — and fans are already speculating what this means for the film’s direction.

What We Know So Far

AK64 marks Ajith Kumar’s second collaboration with director Adhik Ravichandran, following their successful pairing on Good Bad Ugly. According to reports from Valai Pechu, makers are considering Kayadu Lohar for the project, though it’s unclear whether she’d play the female lead or a supporting role. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

Behind the Delays

The project was originally slated to go on floors in early 2026, but the reported exit of its earlier producer pushed things back. With Ajith Kumar reportedly considering bankrolling the film himself, and Anirudh Ravichander rumored to compose the music, AK64 is shaping up differently from the makers’ previous outing. Unlike the intense, action-heavy Good Bad Ugly, this one is said to be a wider-audience family entertainer packed with surprises.

Where Ajith and Kayadu Stand Right Now

Ajith Kumar was last seen headlining Good Bad Ugly, playing a former underworld figure trying to protect his son’s future after years in prison. Meanwhile, Kayadu Lohar most recently starred opposite Atharvaa Murali in Idhayam Murali and has several upcoming projects lined up, including Immortal and The Paradise.
