Agoda, a global travel booking platform, has introduced an AI Assistant within its mobile application, marking a notable update in its two-decade operational history. The AI-powered tool, which began as a limited test in September, is now available to users in 21 markets, designed to integrate travel discovery, planning, and booking functions.
The company states that traditional travel planning often involves navigating multiple applications, search engines, and review sites. Agoda’s AI Assistant aims to consolidate these steps by merging conversational planning capabilities with the platform’s live inventory of over 6 million accommodations, flights, and activities. The assistant allows users to inquire about destinations, compare options, and confirm prices and availability directly within the chat interface, facilitating a continuous booking process.
Agoda Debuts: Overview
For instance, a user can prompt the AI Assistant to plan a five-day family trip to a specific city, such as Osaka. The assistant can then suggest neighborhoods, explore dining and attraction options, and identify available accommodations and flights for specified dates, retaining user preferences throughout the interaction. The assistant organizes these details on a “trip planner canvas,” enabling users to visualize itineraries, upcoming reservations, and prospective plans.

Early data from the beta phase indicates an increased likelihood of users booking “connected trips”—those combining multiple travel products like hotels, flights, and attraction tickets. The assistant also incorporates web search functionality to provide current information alongside Agoda’s inventory.
The core conversational intelligence for Agoda’s AI Assistant is powered by OpenAI models. For information on restaurants and points of interest, the assistant utilizes Gemini with Google Maps Grounding, integrating data such as ratings, photos, and operating hours from Google Maps. This development aligns with broader industry developments(https://technosports.co.in/) in leveraging AI for consumer services.
Omri Morgenshtern, Chief Executive Officer at Agoda, commented on the development: “Travel planning today is fragmented. People jump between apps, tabs, messages, and spreadsheets just to organize a single trip. With Agoda’s AI Assistant, we’re changing that. We’re giving travelers a smart companion that understands their preferences and trip context and adapts to their needs. Our goal is to remove the repetitive work from travel planning, so travelers can make inspired decisions with more confidence.”
Agoda’s mobile application provides access to a portfolio exceeding 6 million holiday properties, 130,000 flight routes, and over 300,000 activities. The full range of options is accessible via Agoda.com (https://www.agoda.com/) and through its mobile app, available on the App Store and Google Play.
The Agoda AI Assistant is currently available in the following markets: India, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, United States, UAE, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, Sri Lanka, Laos, New Zealand, Pakistan, Brunei, and Myanmar.
