Storytelling in Indian Culture

Pankaj Tripathi highlighted the deep-rooted storytelling traditions of India and how Velvet aims to carry them forward. “From folk tales to epics, our stories have always had the power to inspire, educate, and entertain. With this audio platform, we wanted to take this tradition and elevate it into a cinematic experience for the ears, something that transports listeners into a world of imagination while being deeply rooted in our cultural ethos,” he said.

Velvet was officially launched in October 2024 and is more than just an entertainment platform. It is dedicated to preserving and promoting India’s age-old storytelling traditions. The platform is designed to provide an immersive experience, making listeners feel as if they are part of the stories.

Power of Audio Storytelling

Pankaj Tripathi emphasized the power of audio in creating emotional connections with audiences. “I believe that audio has the power to evoke emotions in a way that’s different from visual mediums,” he expressed. Unlike movies and television, audio storytelling allows listeners to visualize and connect with stories using their imagination.

Velvet gives creators a platform to share uniquely Indian stories with a global audience. The aim is to produce narratives that are deeply rooted in Indian culture yet universally relatable. By leveraging the power of sound, the platform offers a new way to experience storytelling that captures emotions and imagination.

Velvet’s Popularity

Since its launch, Velvet has attracted a large number of listeners. The platform has gained over 10,000 listeners on its app, while distribution through partners like Josh App in India and Future Today Group in the US has helped reach over 1 million listeners worldwide. This rapid growth indicates the increasing demand for high-quality audio storytelling.

As Velvet continues to grow, it promises to redefine the way people experience stories. With Pankaj Tripathi and his co-founders at the helm, the platform is on its way to becoming a leading destination for immersive and engaging audio stories. Whether in Hindi or other languages in the future, Velvet is set to bring the magic of storytelling to life in an innovative way.
