Activision announces delay in the release of Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific Season 2

Activision has announced that Season Two of Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific and Vanguard will be delayed. Instead of starting on February 2, the new multiplayer season will start two weeks later, on February 14. Activision said in a blog post that the extra time until the next season will allow devs to continue making updates to the many Call of Duty online games that are presently available, including 2021’s Vanguard and the ongoing Warzone battle royale.

“We’ve released some updates thus far, but there’s still work to be done,” Activision adds on its blog. “As a result, the commencement of Season Two in Warzone Pacific and Vanguard has been pushed back to February 14.”

This time will be used to “deliver updates, including gameplay optimizations, game balancing (including weapon and equipment balancing), fix game stability and bugs, and ensure an overall level of polish to improve the experience for players across Vanguard, Warzone Pacific, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare,” according to the studio.

A special emphasis will be placed on improving Call of Duty’s basic gameplay loop and balancing on both platforms and PC. In addition, the Call of Duty team has stated that there will be additional updates addressing the state of Call of Duty online in the future. “Studios remain focused on consistently improving” the Call of Duty experience, despite the blockbuster news of Microsoft’s acquisition.

Maintaining a single online game, much less four in the same series is no easy feat. Other developers working on continuous online multiplayer games, such as 343 Industries, are experiencing challenges as well, such as Halo Infinite’s Big Team Battle issues.
