Everton have extended the contract of Abdoulaye Doucoure for another season, with the player now committed to the club until 2024. The news was confirmed by Everton on their official website, taking his stay with the club to four years.
Abdoulaye Doucoure made the move to Merseyside from Watford in 2020, the same transfer window that saw the arrival of James Rodriguez and Allan under Carlo Ancelotti. Since then, he has made 94 appearances for the club and has scored and assisted nine goals.

Without the extension, Doucoure would have been able to leave as a free agent. However, the option in his contract for an extra season has been activated by the board.
Since the arrival of Sean Dyche, he has emerged as a key figure for the first team. And it now remains to be seen whether the team will be able to survive relegation by the skin of their teeth for a second straight season.
The Toffees are currently two points from the relegation zone, and have one more game to play against Bournemouth. Unless they can win the game, they run the risk of being relegated on the final day if either Leicester City or Leeds United can win their match against West Ham United and Tottenham respectively.
