Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 Samples Hit 5GHz+ Speeds in Testing

Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chipset is breaking new ground, with early samples reportedly hitting 5 GHz and above during testing phases. This unprecedented clock speed could propel the flagship processor to record-breaking single-core and multi-core benchmark scores when it launches later this year.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2: Performance Projections

Record-Breaking Performance on the Horizon

Qualcomm is reportedly testing the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 at frequencies around 5GHz, with some samples reaching even higher speeds. This represents a massive leap from the current generation’s 4.32GHz maximum clock speed, potentially delivering unprecedented mobile performance.

Benchmark Domination Expected

Early projections suggest the chipset could achieve over 4,000 points in single-core GeekBench 6 tests and upwards of 11,000 points in multi-core scores. Compared to its predecessor, the Elite 2 will improve single-core performance by 20-30% and multi-core scores by 10-15%.

The enhanced performance stems from Qualcomm’s second-generation Oryon CPU cores, which appear optimized for higher sustained frequencies. AnTuTu benchmark scores could reach approximately 3.8 million, significantly outpacing the current ~3 million baseline.
